"Ed and his team were excellent. They installed new siding on two gables and trim around windows, the roof line, and garage of our ranch. My husband and I love the look. The price was right compared to other estimates. They offer a variety of materials including vinyl, wood, and James Hardie siding. I forgot to include an item when getting the original estimate and they came out the next day and installed the trim right away. Would definitely use again!"

"As a result of very good service and high quality windows, I recommended Mike Murnane to my father (a retired real estate Broker- Rolls Realty- who is about as frugal as they come); he'd been wanting to do something about his windows for years. His ranch was built in 1964, and he'd been looking for a window that would match perfectly with the honey-colored maple throughout the house. Dad had looked at Pella and Rosati, but hadn't found a good match in keeping with the Colonial style of the home, at a reasonable cost. Mike showed my father some products initially, but after more consideration, pursued something he hadn't originally thought of, and returned with that product. It was a different line, but It was EXACTLY what Dad had been wanting- and after the job was completed, his visiting friends were not aware the windows had been replaced because they matched so perfectly. Dad ended up having exterior work ordered as well- he had gutters and gutter guards installed, and bought new shutters to replace the original wood ones. He was equally impressed with the people who came to install everything (this was a different team). They brought carpet protectors and drop cloths, and cleaned everything, leaving no trace that they'd been there. As a result, my sister and her husband ordered new windows, a new front door, and a rear sliding glass door replacement.
I am a realtor, and have recommended Mike, his associates, and Atlas Roof and Exteriors to other agents, inspectors, neighbors, and friends.
What I like most is the value and the price. Mike knows what types of products are appropriate for the style and price point of homes. What would be appropriate for a house in the $129,900 range is not the same as what clients would expect in a $250,000 home; and of course, a home in the luxury market demands something above and beyond. The bottom line is to get an energy efficient window to add value and beauty to ANY home. I believe Mike works to get you what you want at a price that is affordable. I don't detect any of that smooth talking, bait and switch nonsense with Mike. The people with whom Mike works do what they say they will do.
Many home owners are intimidated by such a big investment. We've noticed a big difference in how our house feels as the weather has changed. It's quieter. The temperature is more uniform throughout the house and we're more comfortable. We're saving money because everything is airtight. I feel confident recommending Mr. Murnane and the company for which he works.

"Workmanship was very high quality on the siding install. Clean up was average at best. Company communications to me on next steps was absent."

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"Let's look at the big picture: American Weathertechs did an excellent job installing beautiful new vinyl siding on my house in the middle of the most snowy February in recent memory in the middle of a pandemic and for a VERY reasonable price. Everything that follows in this review are just the details. Starting with Lou, our salesperson, we knew we were going to be well taken care of. In a short amount of time he took measurements, showed us color samples and siding styles, discuss pricing and promotions, go over the lifetime warranty, take our deposit and send us our detailed contract. We had never been happier to spend thousands of dollars. We came to our first hurdle about two months later, which was the initial agreed-upon time to begin work on our house. We found out that the production facility had run out of our color and, because of COVID, wouldn't begin production until January. I really can't hold American Weathertechs responsible for this, after all, in a year when it was hard to find yeast, bacon, and toilet paper, I can understand having trouble keeping up on siding orders. The good news is that in early February I got the call that our house was scheduled for the next week. I was nervous because a snow storm, the same one that crippled Texas, was in the forecast. Sure enough, we got several inches of snow and freezing rain and I was CONVINCED there was NO WAY they could do the siding under these conditions. Working on the only days that week when it wasn't actively snowing, a crew of about four guys did all of my siding in TWO DAYS! The only thing that matched the quality of their work was their cheerful attitude, especially considering the below-freezing conditions they were working in. They were flexible and responsive with me, which was essential as one side of my house required them going into my neighbors yard to access so I had them wait until I had my neighbors permission. This brings me to my only slight complaint. They left more of a mess than I would have liked and what was initially described to me. That having been said, when I pointed this out to Lou, he had them back out in a couple of days to do a more thorough clean-up. Oh, AND, I received a hotel package as on of my promotional offers. I'm taking the family to Disney later this year! Overall a 5-star experience in spite of some really difficult conditions."

"I cannot recommend these people enough. We needed our roof and most of the trim and facia underlying the roof replaced, as well as a gutter. They quoted a reasonable price, were completely transparent with all costs associated and how the process would work, were extremely tidy and professional, and were very quick. We have small children, and they were extremely aware of and cautious around them when leaving to and from school and daycare. I had spare siding, and they even volunteered to replace some damaged siding at no additional cost. These guys were just great."

Siding questions, answered by experts

To calculate how much siding you need for exterior walls, first measure the height and width of the rectangular walls. For the triangular gable walls, measure the width and then the height from the ground to the tallest gable point.

  • For the rectangular walls, the calculation is: length x height

  • For the triangular gable walls, the calculation is: (length x height) / 2

Once you add these up, include an additional 10% to account for any wastage.

Insulated vinyl siding is very durable and can last for 20 to 40 years. The extra support that the insulation provides helps to make the vinyl siding less susceptible to damages from weather and other minor wear and tear. Vinyl siding on its own may  be less durable than other types of siding like fiber cement, but when coupled with insulation it is stronger than usual.

You have several options you can choose from for climbing plants without damaging your siding. Climbing hydrangea and Carolina jessamine are two options, and jasmine, honeysuckle, and sweet pea are a few others. Look for these climbing plants to add lovely curb appeal and are less likely to cause damage to your siding.

Wood clapboard siding needs frequent sealing to keep it in top condition—likely every two to three years. A sealant helps protect it from both moisture and sunlight damage. Your weather and climate will affect how often you need to seal the siding, but the pros recommend sealing it every couple of years. More durable woods in milder climates may not need to be sealed quite as often.

Stucco is considered a type of cladding because it includes a built-in ventilation layer, a weatherproof membrane beneath that, and, often, a layer of insulation to improve building efficiency. The multiple layers of stucco—the scratch coat, the brown coat, and the finish coat—also create a more complex building membrane, so it’s more accurate to call it cladding. However, homeowners and contractors alike refer to stucco as siding.
