"I called Chris after spending over a year trying to find someone to even consider doing this job on my 1940s East Beechwold home. My porch was somewhat unique (for many contractors; not the area) because it also serves as the ceiling for a closet in the basement. As a result, this job required building a brace in the basement closet before demo, to ensure that the existing porch did not collapse into the house. Part of the job was also getting an electrician out to remove a working light, which Chris also arranged for me through his contacts after my efforts came up short. Chris explained everything to me, showed me different steps along the way, and built an amazing porch and walkway for me. The porch job wasn't cheap, but Chris's estimate was by far the cheapest, and he also included a new walkway. He had a pretty sizable crew on-site which made the job move quickly despite all the labor that was involved. Chris is a really knowledgeable and kind man, which made a really stressful situation far easier. And, his crew was very respectful and courteous all along the way. I would definitely hire Chris and his team again!"

"This project went so well, I am ready to sign-on with JRush to redo my 2nd bath immediately!
From initial consult, Justin and his team were receptive to my ideas, provided guidance and suggestions, but proved they were 'in it' to make me happy!
Whenever possible, they did the materials pickup, so I didn't have to worry about lugging a vanity or shower doors or marble vanity top in my own car!  They helped me to understand what I needed to choose and how much I needed (tile, paint, etc) and then they dug right in!
The did the demolition - hauled away all the detritus except what could be donated to Habitat for Humanity - and there was little evidence when I got home from work that they'd even been there!  they cleaned up after themselves so well that some days I really didn't know whether they'd come or not, until I checked the progress in the bathroom.
We experienced a slight delay due to my late selection of the sink and countertop, but as soon as these items were available, JRush was in my home and working.
Overall, the project took 2 weeks, start to finish, but it was the fastest and easiest 2 weeks you could imagine!  I would - and have already - highly recommend this group for projects of this scale, especially where tile work is involved because the attention to detail in my shower - wall tile, floor tile, decorative tiled niches - and my floor tile - is art-work quality.
So, in a nutshell, this group did

"I had originally talked with Ron Diersing about an estimate for a driveway replacement in the fall of 2010.  He quoted a price that I thought was fair and set a date for the work to be done.  For a number of reasons, I decided to postpone the project until spring 2011, but still wanted to use Stamp and Concrete Masters to do the job.  I originally was only going to have the driveway replaced, but I added the project of having a wheelchair ramp removed, concrete poured where the ramp had been to make a small patio, and steps installed to run from the deck to the new patio area.  Ron was very understanding about everything, gave me a very fair estimate for the additional work, and we set the date to begin work on 4/19/11.  Because rain was expected on 4/19 and on 4/20, Ron called early on 4/19 and indicated that he thought he and his crew should delay the removal of my old driveway and ramp, plus concrete framing and other preparatory work to 4/20, and pour the new concrete driveway on 4/21 (4/21/11 was the only non-rainy day the whole week!).   The driveway was completed by 1:30 PM on 4/21.  Ron returned that evening to do some additional work on the driveway.  On 4/22/11, Ron installed steps from the deck to the new patio area and ran new wiring as needed to get the pet electronic fence working.  Ron recommends sealing the driveway at least 30 days after installation, but prior to winter, which I will be asking him to do in the near future.  "

"It is with sincere enthusiasm and pleasure that we express our deep satisfaction with the renovation of a large part of our home by Hunter Construction Company. We worked hand in hand with Mr. Brad Holbert, the owner. He had a craftsman's view of exactly what was needed by way of design to have the renovation fit in perfect accord with our beautiful, old home. He was fast, efficient, and has an amazing eye for detail.
Ours was a large project but he kept control of all facets of construction and finished on time. We found Mr.Holbert to very pleasant and trustworthy, and anyone would do well to place their project in his Company's very capable hands.

"The absolute best landscaping company we have every had!  They did the original work very timely.   When one of our own transplanted bushes failed they purchased a new one and planted it.  After the summer heat affected the grass planting, they placed sod.  They really do care about your satisfaction.  I highly recommend them.

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

Failure to compact the soil during construction is the most common cause of leaning retaining walls. In addition, poor drainage can lead to excessive water pressure behind a retaining wall, pushing against it until it begins to move forward away from the soil it is holding back.

If you've decided you'd like to skip the cost of restoring a brick exterior wall after considering whether you should repair or replace brick on your house, you can consider installing fiber cement siding over brick for a cost of $2 to $6 per square foot. When done properly, cement siding over brick offers a durable, low-maintenance option that can actually reduce your home's energy costs. It's also attractive. However, improper installation or installation over heavily compromised brick can cause water damage.

While vinyl is the least costly material for building a retaining wall, the most cost-effective method is to use wood or concrete blocks for a DIY retaining wall under 2 feet tall. Wood is inexpensive but lasts 20 years or more with care. Concrete can cost a little more but is stronger and will last longer with less maintenance.

Small retaining walls still require a foundation of some kind, typically a concrete footing. This helps to ensure the wall is structurally sound and prevents the ground from shifting over time, especially during those winter freeze/thaw cycles. The footing helps spread the weight of the wall and the load it carries over a larger area of the ground, thus assisting with stability. This is true of small retaining walls, larger rock garden walls, and the like.

Generally, a railroad tie retaining wall consisting of a single line of ties should be between 3 and 4 feet tall—and the height often tops out at around 6 feet. You can go taller, but you may need additional footings and reinforcements, including a second layer of railroad ties to support the added weight of the soil it’s holding back.
