"The Angie's list deal was great and included inspection, setting traps and monitoring access holes for a raccoon. (We did see one raccoon a couple of times, so think that's all we had in the attic.)  After 5 weeks, we still had not caught anything, but there was no ongoing evidence of activity, so Greg installed high-grade screening over the gable vents and a hole in the soffit.  The price was reasonable at $250 for the screens and installation.  Critter Ridder was very responsive to our needs, and although they never caught this critter, they did do all they could to address the situation.  Greg and Ken did peek into the attic twice but did not set traps inside.
I wish that this company could also do attic cleanup, as we will now have to contract with someone else for that, as well as any needed sanitation, repairs, and insulation replacement.  But they did what they could and I would recommend them to anyone else, and I will call them again if we need animal control in the future.

"Dusty was able to clear out 3 large house sparrow nests, reinstall 2ft of flashing they ripped off, seal up 2 entry points, and add a gutter spike in less then 2 hours in 90 degree heat. The birds are ticked and it was a great experience. Thank you!"

"Wagers was knowledgeable, helpful, and to the point. He knew how to identify the droppings left by our guests, and where to look for their entry points. After sealing those off, we've had no more issues with wildlife invading our home. Highly recommend, and will use again for all of our wildlife needs!"

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Keeping your pool cover clean is a good way to keep smaller animals from running across it or using it as shelter. Small animals may use leaf debris on top of the cover to hide. Cleaning also removes nuts that may fall from a nearby tree that could otherwise be a tempting snack for some animals, like squirrels.

You can find a variety of humane bird repellent sprays online and at home improvement stores. However, if you want to try a DIY method that will keep birds away without harming them, mix some water, dish soap, and a few drops of peppermint oil and spray the area you want bird-free. Peppermint oil is a notoriously lovely smell for humans, but birds tend to avoid it.

If you’ve had a prior bat infestation or simply want to avoid having bats invade your home in the first place, there are a few steps you can take without the need for a pro.

  • Seal entry points, such as where your chimney meets your house, or other gaps or holes exist.

  • Use bat deterrents like bright lights or ultrasonic devices to force them away from your home.

  • Reduce bat attractions like standing water and bird nectar feeders inviting bats into your yard.

Some of the plants listed above, like daffodils, are poisonous to many animals if eaten. But wild animals instinctively avoid them, for the most part. Household pets don’t always have the same survival instinct, which is why it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with common plants that pose a danger to cats and dogs.

In most cases, a mother bird will return to a disturbed nest after the disturbance has passed. However, it can be hard for a mother bird to find a relocated nest. So, while it’s false that a mother bird will abandon her nest if it’s been disturbed, it’s not a good idea to relocate a nest with live babies or eggs in it.
