"Had Rock Steady Builders build my pole barn/garage and would definitely recommend them. They prepped the site built the structure and had the concrete poured. "James came from Ohio to do a few projects for our non-profit organization. We have staffed residential homes for adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the South Hills area. We recently purchased a newer home for one of our houses, because our residents are aging and need a more accessible home. James and his teammate helped us with that. They helped install some handrails, installed a bathroom vent, closed off an old dining room into a bedroom, installed a split unit, and tore out a tub and installed a huge linen closet in its place. They were very professional through the whole process and we will be using them for many similar projects in the near future. Highly recommended!"

Pole barns are more cost-effective because they require fewer materials and less labor.

The time it takes to build a shed heavily depends on the type of shed you buy. A prefab shed can be built in 4 to 8 hours, while a custom shed will be built off-site over the span of 2 to 5 days. It then takes a few hours, depending on the location, to move the finished shed to its final location.

The best lumber for building will be the strongest and most eco-friendly wood your budget allows. That being said, Douglas fir, pine, oak, and maple are all common building materials. Contractors will use a strong, inexpensive wood to frame a house or other structure and finer woods like mahogany for detail work. 

Pole barns and carports are similar in that they rely on posts for support and are often not connected to a primary structure. The main difference between the two is that pole barns usually include walls that surround the entire perimeter of the structure, while carports generally remain open on three or four sides. It’s possible to insulate garage doors and even exterior walls on pole barns to create a comfortable workspace, and it’s a bit more secure for storage purposes. However, carports are more affordable.
