"Excellent Customer Service! Helped us get our heat back on fast and at a fair price and did not take advantage of us in our time of desperation. A special Thank You to Todd and Tanner, because of you Gilbert Heating has my future business. ***Here's how it all went down: I woke up in the morning to find out we had no heat so I called the company whose sticker was on my furnace - Big Mistake. They sent a technician out and diagnosed the problem as a bad inducer. The quote to replace the inducer was $700. At that price it made me consider putting that money towards the purchase of a new furnace to replace my 12 year old furnace. Which is what I decided to do at which point this other company advised me that they would not be able to install the new furnace until Friday/Saturday. I didn't have heat, so I asked what I what am I supposed to do about heat until Friday/Saturday. They offered to replace the part in my old furnace for to get me through the next 3 or 4 days, until they could install my new furnace, for an additional $150 to the cost of the new furnace. Basically, renting me the part for 3 or 4 days for $150. So, that is when I called Gilbert Heating and another company (who never did call me back) to see if they could install a new furnace sooner to avoid this additional $150 charge. Todd from Gilbert Heating called me back almost immediatly and made arrangements to come right over and quote the furnace replacement. He looked at the furnace and said he would love to sell me a new furnace but I don't need one. He said our furnace looked clean and just needs a new inducer which he could have installed same day for $450 ($250 less than the company I paid $80 to diagnose the problem). Tanner showed up an hour later and replaced the inducer and our heat was back on. Calling Gilbert Heating saved our family vacation scheduled for April. Thank You Gilbert Heating!"

"Jim Farrell and North Alabama Technical Services rebuilt my computer and provided me with everything I expected and so much more.  He provided the various options in equipment, including specs and pricing, answered all our questions and helped us make the best decision for our purchases.  The computer was completed in a few days, far less than expected, the installation included clear directions for use.  The package also included a good warranty for the equipment.  I was extremely pleased with his service and would not hesitate to recommend his company to anyone with computer service needs."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

A home radiator works by using radiation and convection to transfer heat throughout your home. Electric radiators use metal to conduct heat and warm the air, which then rises to warm the room. Steam and hot water radiators work with a boiler and piping system to pump thermal energy throughout the home. Hot water radiators use a boiler to heat the water before circulating it to the radiator, while steam heating radiator systems convert the heated water to steam before circulating it out. When the water or steam cools, it travels back to the boiler to be heated again.

No, boilers and water heaters are not interchangeable because they serve different primary functions. Boilers are used for central heating systems, providing hot water or steam to heat your home. In contrast, a water heater's purpose is to supply hot water for daily household use, such as for faucets and showers. A water heater alone cannot supply the warm water or steam needed for a central heating system.

While they are not interchangeable, it is common to have both a boiler and a water heater. In fact, a conventional boiler often works best when a water heater system is already in place. The two systems can be combined to provide both heating and hot water, either by pairing a boiler with an indirect water heater or by installing a premade combination boiler-water heater unit. For home heating, some homeowners may also opt for a furnace instead of a boiler.

Hydronic and standard electric baseboard heaters differ in how they operate, their cost, and their performance. Standard convection heaters use electric coils to heat the air directly, while hydronic heaters warm a contained liquid like water or oil, which then radiates heat into the room.

In terms of cost and efficiency, hydronic heaters usually have a higher upfront price but are more energy-efficient and cheaper to run over time. This is because the heated liquid retains warmth, allowing the heater to continue providing heat for a while after the thermostat turns it off. In contrast, electric heaters provide heat more quickly but are less efficient.

Ultimately, the better choice depends on your priorities. If you need a room to heat up fast and have a lower initial budget, an electric heater might be suitable. If long-term energy savings are more important and you don't mind a slower heat-up time, a hydronic heater is likely the better option.

A furnace takes in cool air, heats it through the burner and heat exchanger, and sends the air on its way to warm your home. A boiler is a pressurized vessel that produces hot water or steam to heat the home and provide hot water. A boiler may or may not work together with a furnace.

Costs depend on system size, efficiency rating, and additional features like zoning or smart controls.
