"Replaced damaged pieces on side of house (high visibility area) by harvesting pieces from the back of house (low visibility area). The new pieces were then added to the back which was still a very close match visually."

"May 26, 2022 Siding for our house in cedar rapids Iowa Allstate exteriors who did a wonderful job our communications with them was perfect we didn't have to fight with them over anything. They did the roof and the siding and gutters. Fast done right Jeremy Woodruff came to my house and talked to me about the company. He and his wife Violet made sure that we were satisfied with all three jobs. We appreciate their professionalism and their commitment to get the job done right. also their associates Ryan Richardson and his foreman Luke are fantastic with aftercare and providing us with The assurances of any maintenance needed in the future. I give them five stars Dwaine and Carprina Toran"

"From the start most importantly I was informed. The sales rep was fantastic. Highly recommend Jake. They had so many choices and so many payment options. We ended up taking the 21 months no interest. As for the install goes. Flawless they were on time materials delivered on time. Started the tear off at 7:30 just like I was told and we?re done before 5 pm. Clear communication with the lead installer. I?m glad we went with Fourfront! When we do our siding. It?ll be them no questions asked asked"

"Richard who gave us the quote for siding and gutters was a relief compared to the first company we got a quote from. No high pressure sales tactics from him and he gave us the option to paint the shutters which brought cost down. And they look great, better than new. Since new ones probably would of been vinyl not metal. Also Jarrod and James and their crew did a great job as well. They finished job in good time, and cleaned up well afterwards. They are very professional company and really deserve their A+ BBB rating."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Wood siding requires an air gap behind it to allow water to drain out, and for air circulation and venting to allow humid air to escape and keep the material from rotting due to moisture.

Many people remove aluminum siding to get to the wood underneath, allowing them to paint, stain, or finish the wood to give the home a brand-new aesthetic. With that in mind, you find plywood and related types of wood underneath aluminum siding, but you also run into fiber cement board, strand board, and a diverse array of other building materials. It depends on the original design of the house.

You should restain or refinish your home's cedar siding every three to seven years to maintain its appearance and ensure maximum protection. The precise frequency depends on several factors, including your local climate, the siding's exposure to severe weather like direct sunlight, rain, and wind, the quality of the initial stain application, the type of stain used, and the condition of the wood.

Homeowners in harsh climates with high humidity and significant direct sunlight should plan on restaining every three years, while those in milder locations can wait up to seven years. For the longest-lasting protection in particularly harsh environments, consider using an opaque stain.

If you're looking for a lower-maintenance alternative, vinyl or aluminum siding are options to consider. Although their installation cost may be higher, they don't require as much upkeep over time, which can provide more value, especially in areas with excessive rainfall or high humidity.

Yes, after the initial expense to purchase and install it, vinyl siding offers a good value over time because it requires very little maintenance and lasts a long time. In terms of how long vinyl siding lasts, you can expect at least 20 years and up to 60 years of performance.

Look and feel for signs of damage after a hail storm. On vinyl siding, there will likely be cracks or holes. If you have steel or aluminum siding, look for dents and cracked or chipped paint. For wood and fiber cement boards, dents are the most common sign of hail damage.
