"Work performed as stated, on time and budget. Josh was very helpful with figuring out the scope of work that was compatible with our budget and achieve the desired results. No more standing water in our craw space. Sump pump replaced and reconfigured. Below grade drains placed at foundation with 4à ¢à  à  drain tubes with silt socks going to sump. Trench filled with pea gravel. Also placed around furnace platform area draining under foundation. Excellent service for a fair price. Their staff were very helpful and courteous. Kudos to Advanced for a job well done."

"My 40 year old unfinished basement started getting water and mold growing in two corners last fall. I got 3 estimates with 3 different waterproofing solutions and price points. Although not the cheapest solution, Ohio State Waterproofing recommended their interior and exterior solution which made the most sense to me so at the time so issues would be addressed on both sides of the basement walls. The other two companies only wanted to install an interior gutter on top of the footer for about 2/3s of the cost, the same ones seen being ripped out in the online videos. OSW's exterior fix for my home was basically excavating around 3 ft deep, scraping the walls of any dirt then applying a layer of waterproofing mastic "tar" and covering it with plastic and wrapping the bottom of the channel with plastic and backfilling with the excavated dirt. Since my downspout drains were shallow, they didn't install drains at the bottom of the exterior trenches because there was nothing to tie them into nor did they backfill with gravel, so basically they were just re-waterpoofing the upper half of the exterior walls and sealing the minor cracks. In the worst of the two leaking basement corners, I had a small interior and exterior vertical settlement crack that ran almost down to the footer. They excavated to the footer and applied the same treatment and really focused on that area. In the basement, they removed a 12" wide strip of concrete around the perimeter and installed 3" perforated corrugated drain pipe adjacent to and BELOW the edge of the footer and sloped to the new sump pump pit containing a new sump pump and secondary battery back up sump pump which is linked to a smartphone app. They also drilled weep holes into each chamber of the lowest course of concrete block, including the mortar joints, placed a folded "waffle board" that went about 12" up the wall and covered the top of the footer to allow any water from the weep holes to make it to the drain. Then they placed gravel on top and around the pipe and footer and added about 1.5" to 2" of concrete to rebuild the slab floor and sealed any wall and floor cracks with caulking. The entire project took 3 days. Carlos and his crew worked very hard and they had to hand dig through multiple small boulders and work in the rain and heat. They took great care to keep the house clean and minimize the damage to the yard and landscaping while excavating. During the project all of my questions and concerns were answered and addressed. Overall, I know the solution implemented at my home will work and having the $75/year warranty is my insurance that is the case. I would say my only concern after the job was that the salesman definitely oversold what they would do, exaggerated the severity of my minor vertical and stair stepping settlement cracks and the presence of mold. I also didn't like how they want you to sign that day when you are processing 2 hours of how a foundation works and what it will cost to fix it. It later causes tension and anxiety when you see a "lesser" but adequate solution being applied without being compensated from the original contract price. I felt that I overpaid by a few thousand dollars, but I think that is still cheaper than paying someone to come out twice to redo a failed interior and/or exterior solution."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Baking soda and vinegar aren’t just great for making a volcano for your kid’s science project. You can also pour this dynamic duo down your shower drain to dissolve hair clogs. If that doesn’t do the trick, you can step it up with a commercial liquid drain cleaner.

A professional drain cleaner is a plumber or specialized drain cleaner with the necessary tools to unclog drains and tiles to keep waste water flowing out to the septic tank or city sewer for processing. Keeping wastewater from backing up into your home helps keep you and your family safe from potential contamination and sickness. These pros can help resolve nearly any drain situation in a safe and efficient manner.

Sometimes, the drain is just too clogged—thanks, stubborn hair and soap scum. In this case, you’ll need a more powerful drain cleaner than you can DIY safely at home. But this doesn’t mean you have to choose a traditional drain cleaner.

You can find biodegradable drain cleaners at your local home improvement store or online for those drains that need a little more oomph

While on the hunt for a formidable drain cleaner, the best options are non-chemical clog solutions that combine enzymes and bacteria.

Plumbers use a variety of tools to help unclog the toughest of drain clogs, but the most common tools they use are drain snakes and augers. They try a plunger or drain snake to start, then move to heavy-duty augers, and finally try using a hydro jetter to blast away the clog with high-pressure water. Hiring a plumber to unclog a drain costs $125 to $300, largely depending on the extent and location of the clog and which of these methods is best for clearing it.

A bit of water in the bowl can help unclog a toilet, especially if you're using a plunger. However, if the bowl is full to the brim, you'll need to strap on gloves and remove some of the wastewater in a cup or container so it doesn't overflow when you try to unblock the pipe. If you're concerned about it filling further, manually close the flapper in the toilet tank or turn off the water supply to the toilet.
