Small jobs welcome

Customers say: Quality work

"Ken did a beautiful job repairing cracks in our countertops and sanding/refinishing them. He was careful to protect all the other surfaces and cleaned everything up afterward. He had expected it to be a two-day job but when he saw. he could finish in one, he offered to stay late and finish, which was great. The repairs are absolutely invisible and the counters look great. We might even be inspired to resist putting all of our junk back on them! ;-)"

"They are the best in countertop fabricating and installation. They did granite countertops and full sheet quartz backslash. 53 sq ft of counters and 56 sq ft of backslash. It all lined up perfectly with NO seams. We did scuff the backslash instilling the range hood and they came out fixed it at no charge. I was expecting to pay since it was my fault. If you have a project big or small they are the company you choose. Great, great crew and great company owner who is at your place the entire time they are doing the measurements & instruction."

"I hired Tom to reglaze our bathroom almost a year ago now, and was thinking about it as I need another bathroom done.

Tom and his son spent about two and a half days reparing and glazing the tile walls and tub in my bathroom.  While here they were polite and professional.  At the end of the job, the bathroom looked great other than some drip marks on the tile walls in about ten different areas.  I asked Tom if he could fix this, and he said it would smooth out as it cured over the next couple of weeks. I still paid him given his good track record on Angie's List.   The drip marks never smoothed out.  I called him three times over the next couple of months and he never returned my calls.

Overall I am still happy with the job.  The tile walls look about 10x better than they did before, at a cost much less than replacing the tiles and tub.  Though when you look closely, you can see the drip marks.  I am mostly upset that Tom never returned my calls, and felt obligated to submit this report.  (I don't normally give bad reports.)  Now I have to find someone else to reglaze my other larger bathroom."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

The least porous countertop material is engineered quartz. Made from a blend of natural quartz and resins, it is non-porous and highly resistant to stains, scratches, and bacteria. This makes quartz countertops exceptionally low-maintenance and durable, ideal for kitchens and bathrooms where hygiene and easy upkeep are priorities. Other non-porous options include solid surface materials like Corian, which also offer excellent resistance to moisture and stains.

Granite countertops can last for 100 years or more with proper maintenance, even in high-traffic areas like kitchens and bathrooms. Granite can crack, stain, or fade over time, like any countertop material, but it’s a highly durable option that should offer a lifetime of use. Some ways to increase the longevity of granite countertops include regularly cleaning the surface, especially after spills, avoiding sharp objects directly on the countertop, and resealing the material every few years.

The frequency for sealing marble countertops depends on several factors, including the quality and color of the stone, the type of sealant used, and the amount of traffic the surface receives. Marble has a porous surface that requires sealing to maintain its shine and resist scratches. As a general rule, you should seal countertops at least once a year. However, for heavily used surfaces, like those in a busy kitchen or family bathroom, you may need to reseal them every three to six months. Conversely, countertops in a rarely used guest bathroom might only need resealing every few years.

Concrete countertops require regular upkeep and can be harder to maintain than other materials. For daily cleaning, use a mild, pH-neutral cleaner and avoid harsh, acidic products that can damage the sealant. It's important to wipe up spills immediately, especially from acidic substances, as concrete stains easily. To prevent scratches, always use a cutting board. The countertops must be resealed periodically—at least once a year—to protect them from stains and moisture. Be aware that concrete is also prone to cracking over time and may require repairs.

When installing an undermount kitchen sink in a granite countertop, use 100% silicone to secure the basin. If you’re worried your sink is too heavy, speak with a countertop professional about how to adhere the sink to the countertop without worrying about issues down the road. Sagging undermount sinks can be a common plumbing problem if they’re not properly adhered, so always make sure you’re using a high-quality material.
