"Jake came right out, took a look at our foundation wall and knew what was needed to repair it. At first he told us it would be possible to schedule the work on a Saturday, but as it turned out they were able to complete it the same week he came out. Jake worked right along with his workmen. They did a wonderful job of correcting the bowed and cracked wall. The lifetime, transferable warranty was welcome news. The price was much less than anticipated. We would definitely hire them again."

"Installed an egress window which required cutting through thick poured concrete walls. Great service. Eco Seal provided a thorough, quick, and price competitive quote. They got me on the schedule quickly and the work was performed by polite and respective people that cleaned up after themselves. I would choose them again."

"Damp, moldy drywall was removed in my laundry room along with concrete in the same area. Once the floor was opened up they removed buckets and buckets of water that was under the floor. I was very surprised to see that! The appropriate pipe was placed, a sump pump was installed and new concrete was poured to finish the job. The workers were prompt, efficient, and completed the work in a short time. I am happy with the results and would definitely recommend All County."

"The techs did a great job, and once I alerted them to my flower beds directly in front of the porch to be lifted, were very careful not to damage my emerging hostas. I'd definitely recommend Acculevel and already have to my sister for her patio/parking spot."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

The cost of masonry work varies widely depending on the type of masonry along with common cost factors like size, complexity, location, and season. Most exterior masonry work done in freezing temperatures tends to cost more because of the preparation and protection involved to keep the masonry from freezing before the mortar cures properly. The average price ranges per project or square foot for different types of masonry include:

  • Brick wall (fence, garden wall, etc.): $10–$45 per square foot

  • Natural stone wall: $40–$110 per square foot

  • Manufactured stone veneer: $20–$40 per square foot

  • Brick home exterior: $10–$30 per square foot

  • Brick siding: $3–$10 per square foot

  • Stone siding: $35–$50 per square foot

  • Brick step replacement: $20–$30 per square foot

  • Brick wall repair: $20–$40 per square foot

  • Chimney repairs: $160–$750 per project

  • Tuckpointing: $5–$25 per square foot

The premise for painting a brick building is fairly simple: Prime the bricks to seal the surface and apply the top coat to protect your brick home. However, it’s easy to miss a few important steps if you’re starting from a raw brick surface and don’t know the basics of how to paint brick. So be sure to reach out to a local professional painter if you have any reservations about correctly painting your brick house.

Yes, it is essential to prime or seal a brick fireplace before painting. Brick is a porous and highly absorbent material, so without a primer, paint can seep into the surface, resulting in uneven coverage and allowing the natural brick color to show through. To avoid this, apply one or two coats of a masonry primer. The primer will seal the brick and provide a smooth, uniform layer for the paint to adhere to. Ensure the primer is completely dry before applying the topcoat of paint.

Do not use super glue to hang lights on brick unless you want your lights up year-round. Hot glue is a better choice because it’s easily removable with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Super glue is very hard to remove, and you could tear off parts of the brick in the removal process.

There are many things to look for when buying a brick house. Here are some of the key things you should pay close attention to.

  • Lintels: Look for cracks, holes, displacement, or corrosion

  • Mortar: Check to see if the mortar is old and crumbling, in need of repointing, or new. Also check to see if the mortar has a professional finish.

  • Walls: Check along each side of the house. If a wall is bowing outward, this indicates a severe issue such as foundation damage or that the walls are ready to fall.

  • Cracks: If there are stair step cracks in the brickwork, this indicates an unstable foundation.
