"I left a message on Friday evening, Beth called back the following morning. I had called a few other lawn services during the previous 2 weeks and none called back, so this was a huge plus. They went out and looked at the yard, then Beth called back with an estimate. The lawn had not been mowed all year (it's a vacation house) and it's a pretty steep hill. They quoted an excellent price, considering the mess they were taking on. They also quoted an excellent price to mow regularly in the future. They did the mowing on Tuesday, sent a photo to my brother, he sent a check, it was a done deal. I hope these folks continue to mow the lawn for us in the future."

"J&H excavating traveled up to Columbus to tackle this 3,000 foot driveway project. J & H provided constant communication throughout 3 different phases of the project, and worked great in conjunction with the other contractors on the job."

Lawn Care questions, answered by experts

Lawn mower blades should be sharp enough that you can feel the sharpened edge, but not sharp enough to cut you when you touch them. Over-sharpening blades to a fine, razor-edge poses a safety risk and decreases the blade's life because it causes extra wear; the thinner edge is sharper but weaker and will require more frequent sharpening.

Fescue grass is a relatively low-maintenance grass type, meaning it doesn’t require much more attention than regular watering, dethatching, and mowing. Some fescues even grow slowly enough for hard-to-reach areas, particularly those inaccessible by the mower. Following a seasonal maintenance schedule will help your fescue lawn stay green, healthy, and durable for years to come.

They compete for nutrients and water, potentially stunting desired plants.

They handle labor-intensive tasks efficiently, equipping your lawn for seasonal changes without physically demanding work on your part.

During normal temperatures, you should mow about once per week. However, if your grass is distressed by extreme heat, you should avoid mowing it altogether. Wait until after an irrigation session or rainfall. That way, your grass will be good and hydrated before you mow. Remember, you should not mow the grass when it’s wet. Wait until it dries first.
