"Jeff and his team were great! They brought our 1950s bathroom in to this century and did an amazing job. We got several quotes from different contractors in Cincinnati and Jeff was by far the most reasonable. I even added additional items for Jeff to fix/do subsequent to our original quote (i.e. replace the door, add outlets in other rooms, etc.) and he completed everything with no problem and didn't overcharge me for anything. He kept in contact with us throughout the process, was timely, and everything was completed beautifully. I can't say enough good things! We'll definitely have him back to our home for future remodels."

"Bryan was great - attention to detail, great communication, fair price, knowledgeable. He is quick to respond to calls and texts, which was evident after the first time I reached out to him. He was able to fix what had been done incorrectly by previous contractors not even 4 years ago - and at a fair price and timely manner. Already planning to work with him on future projects."

Small jobs welcome

"Yury and Sergei were wonderful and easy to work with. Actually the best crew I have ever had the pleasure to hire, and I have had many projects done through the years. I tend to do most of my own repairs, but this was beyond my skill set. Knowing many of the details necessary, I can say they excelled on every count exceeding my expectations. Plus, Yury always responded promptly and courteously. They will definitely be my first phone call for any future project. I have referred them to several friends/family already. Thank you Yury and Sergei."

"Coldstream did a beautiful job remodeling my 80+ year old garage. My garage was in need of a new custom size door and framing to hang the door, as well as, framing around the door. Marty suggested installing flooring over the new joist to create additional storage. Because of Covid, the estimated wait for the new door was 6 weeks. It took much longer then 6 weeks to manufacture, but Marty called me several times during the delay to update me on the progress. I really did appreciate how informed he kept me. Marty and his crew did a great job, and I could not be happier with the project."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.

The cost to install a bow window can range from $1,500 to $15,000, with a national average of $3,900. The total price includes materials, which can cost between $1,200 and over $14,000, and labor, which typically adds $300 to $1,900. Several factors influence the final cost, including the window's size and frame material. For example, vinyl frames are the most budget-friendly option, while wood frames are more expensive. Custom features or energy-efficient upgrades will also increase the price. For comparison, a bay window installation typically costs between $1,000 and $7,000.

The average cost of DIY window framing is about $40 to $60 in materials. If you hire a window treatment professional, you’ll pay for materials plus labor costs—anywhere from $250 to $800 per window. The final cost is highly dependent on the window size, as larger windows are heavier and more difficult to install, as well as the type of window framing material.

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.

While framing a basement is not as difficult as finishing a basement, it's something you should typically leave to the pros. That’s because if something is installed correctly, it will affect your entire basement. However, you can take care of some of the smaller tasks, like filling holes or putting up some insulation.
