We love the new built-ins. Craftsmanship is quite good and the installation team was a pleasure to work with. However it took much longer than original expectations. Bret did the original visit and proposal in August. Offered nice design suggestions. Contract signed / deposit Sep 8. Expectation set as 8 weeks to complete. Actual completion Jan 15. Firm did not communicate progress when the original expected date came and went, requiring us to call back on multiple occasions. By end November firm was still hedging on completion date, citing a lot of work with new home construction. It was clear that this (new construction) was their priority and we were "second tier". All said, they did a nice job and we would consider hiring again if completion date is not critical. Would add some progress check points in the contract. Also, office staff did not seem empowered to provide any status information. We would get that clarified at time of signing - who to call.

Initial contact was responsive and prompt.  FREE estimate was offered after work was reviewed and measured.  Follow-up, detailed estimate was sent via email.  This was considered a very fair price for the work to be done.  Contact was later made by the craftsman who would be performing the work.  An agreed upon time and date was established within one week of contact.  Craftsman showed up as promised ready to work.  Care was taken with protection of surrounding areas that might be affected by sanding and sealing. Pleasant and friendly workman quietly went about his work with stunning results.  Because of required curing time for sealing of project for two coats, workman returned following morning to complete the project.  Price was exactly as estimated and finished work was beautiful. This company was listed third on the ratings list but don't be afraid to select the 3rd choice!  They don't make it on the list for nothing. Sometimes clients forget to write a review of great accomplishments by a company. It's taken me one month to write a review of this excellent company. We are grateful to Bret's Carpentry and Angie's List who brought us together.

Excellent craftmanship.  A little high on the price to paint it, so we painted it ourselves

I found the advertisement & had husband call & tell Chris what we needed.  A worker came and did all the work well.  He left a bill.  The dog liked him.

He was very nice and showed up when he was supposed to. Compared to some other companies that I call, he seems to be more knowledgeable and willing to do it. You can actually buy the crown moulding from them and a lot of places are willing to install it. I bought it along with my actual cabinet, so when you had it, there was no taking it back some one of it not exactly. Actually, I do not think that there was anything they put it on gutter. They did a good job.

Installed on time and very professional and courteous. Very happy with workmanship.

I really appreciate that they look for ways to save their clients money.

Had a new oven/microwave/warming draw installed and had to have kitchen cabinetry modified to accept it.  Bret's did a fine job for us.  We expect to use them again for some other jobs we need done.

We could not have asked for a better experience. Everyone involved in the work was highly skilled, professional in their approach and a pleasure to have in our home. This job showed itself to be far more complicated than it appeared at first, requiring a great deal of problem-solving. The final result demonstrates the craftsmanship of the entire team. We have been left with a gorgeous outdoor living space that we are proud to enjoy.

We absolutely love the work Bret's carpentry did. It transformed our staircase, hall and dining room into more custom feeling rooms. It was exactly what we were looking for. Bret will doing doing future work for us as well as several of our friends. All the work was done in a timely manor and for a reasonable price. The crew was very prompt and friendly to work with.

I could not have asked for more attentive, professional work. Our deck was in deplorable condition, mostly as a failed attempt on my part to overcome the previous owner's poor choice in finishing. When the floor boards were removed, we discovered that the original framing was never fastened to the house, was sinking, and out of square. Bret's staff worked diligently to correct all of these problems while preserving as much usable structure as possible to keep my costs low. The end result is a Gorgeous deck that I know is structurally sound and maintenance-free. I would recommend Bret's without reservation. This company will be my first (and only) call should I ever need work done in the future.

From the beginning, we saw them at the Home Improvement show in Sharonville. We set a time for them to come and talk with us for the purpose of getting an estimate. The owner showed up, listened to us, and made suggestions. By the time he left, we had come up with a design that seemed to be exactly what we wanted. They sent us a drawing, and we made some changes here and there to make it truly what we wanted. We agreed on a design, looked at the quote and decided to do it. 9 weeks later it was ready. They set a time for installation, and the 2 guys called to say they were running late. They arrived and had to get the units up the stairs, which was tough. They took great care not to do any damage to the house or the unit. They worked quickly, and with detail and quality. The overall installation and the quality of the unit was very good. Both of us were very happy!

I can hardly say enough in praise of this company. The owner of the company did an initial consultation, during which he listened to my goals and offered suggestions. His estimate was precise and quite reasonable. The gentleman who began the work demonstrated a great deal of attention to detail as well as respect for our home. Each day, he left the work area immaculately clean. Everyone I encountered during this project was both pleasant and professional. I am so grateful to have found a company of such good craftsmen, and would not hesitate to use their services again

Overall the experience was great with Bret's team. Bret came out and did a pre-measure and we discussed the basics of what we were looking for in design and looks. We then worked with designer/sales person Chris. Chris emailed a electronic rendering of what the unit would look like and the bid for the job. I have to say it was nice to get the rendering of what the unit was going to look like as it allowed us to work out any kinks before the install. After trading a couple emails with some design changes we agreed on what the unit would look like and a price. It took a couple weeks for their shop to get our unit in to their build calendar but we knew this going in to the project, the told us they had a full schedule. When the unit was built I brought them a sample of our trim paint so that they could match the color of the unit to the rest of our trim, I will say it really is a pretty good match. A couple days later they come out and installed the unit. There were some issues with the original install, some marring and minor damage to the top of the cabinets. I called Chris about the what I was seeing and he came out the next day to take a look at the unit himself. He was very apologetic and agreed that there were some issues with the cabinet top and there some cosmetic flaws. He had new top built and painted. Chris came out himself to install the new top, this was all done within a week. Overall I would say that the experience was positive and that this is a good group of people. We would highly recommend Bret and his team. *We are giving a B for quality only because of the issues we had at the original install. They did address these issues and the unit is great but the frustration of having to deal with the problems from the first install could and should have been avoided.*

Saw Bret's on Angie's list with a good rating.  They came out quickly and made an estimate to match what insurance had allocated.  I knew this was a minor job for them since it only involved molding/toe strips in a medium sized bed room, small hall way 1/2 family room and three doors.  The carpenter arrived on time and was very friendly.  Cleaned up nicely afterwards.

I would highly recommend Bret's carpentry.  Bret, the owner is prompt and responsive to all phone calls and emails.  He has a wonderful eye or knack for his trade after many years in the business.  For example, the crown molding was not included in our original plan and was one of his suggestions when he came out for the estimate.  I am so glad we took his suggestion as it is a wonderful finishing touch.  He selected a crown molding that coordinated well with the existing crown in the hallway outside out of the master bedroom.  

The final product is amazing and completely transformed our boring, cookie cutter bedroom.  Because of this upgrade, our bedroom now looks like it is a bedroom you would find or expect in a custom home.  His employees were polite and courteous and cleaned up well after the job was complete.  I will definitely be calling him when we are ready to install a bar in our basement.

The first day the entire floor was cut and ripped out and the area was framed for the cubbies.  There was drywall work that took a few days.  The tile floor was installed next and it was level!  Next we repainted the room and then they could install the cabinets and cubbies.  We love it.  Now we have a place for all my kids backpacks, jackets etc.  We also had a sink cabinet installed where they did the faucet too.  We haven't any any problems and i didn't worry about the work being preformed poorly.  Bret and his son did a lot of the work.  He is somewhat hard to reach at times prior to the start of the project, but when he started on mine he was there every day of it. 

They painted the molding in their shop and they installed it once they came out. I did not have any problems with them. I am totally satisfied with them. I spent about $2000 on the job. Everything was businesslike. They got me samples as I was not sure what the job would look like. I gave them my choices. They showed up on time and did the work onsite. They did excellent carpentry. I was thoroughly pleased with their work. I got them off of a mailer that was sent to my home. I will use them again in the future.
