"Arlyn and the Aquanolgoy staff installed a water softener, 30 and 5 micron filters, UV light and RO system to improve the quality of water in my area which is known for high iron and hardness levels. I cannot be happier with the water quality as well as the time and effort spent to achieve quality results. The team is knowledgeable and the level of service is exceptional. Highly recommended"

"John was very professional and explained everything he had done. He replied later that Friday night when a problem arose with the hot water. He came out the next morning and corrected the problem even though he had other appointments. He was easy to talk to and answered questions about other plumbing concerns. I would highly recommend him to others and will call on him again if needed."

"First, Dave was quick to respond to my request for service .... he came and provided a job estimate. Then he was able to quickly set up an appointment to do the job. His work was efficient, well done, and professional. Additionally, he answered my questions during the installation. The work involved the installation of plumbing for a small utility sink ... drain line and water. Additionally, he installed shutoff valves for two separate installations."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

A tankless water heater should be at least 10 feet away from a water softener, although the pros you hire for water softener installation can help you determine the correct distance. These two units need to have some distance between them to prevent hot water from the tankless water heater from flowing backward into the water softener when it runs a regeneration cycle.

A water softener removes minerals from your drinking water and can make your house water softer. These softeners are designed to extend the lifetime of your plumbing system while also making water safer and more palatable for drinking. Hard water, which is water with a heavy amount of suspended particles, can also cause hair damage, skin irritation, and buildup in your pipes.

Hard water stains can be a headache because they will reoccur as long as hard water flows through. Thankfully, hard water stains are not permanent. With the right tools and an appropriate cleaning routine, you can prevent hard water stains from ever building up. However, you might feel like you are stuck in a constant cleaning cycle. In that case, you may consider hiring a contractor to perform routine cleaning.

The chemicals in a water softener can wear down the anode rod in the heater and shorten its life span. However, for most people, the benefits of the softener outweigh this potential drawback.

Have a plumber inspect the anode rod annually for damage, as replacing the anode rod is far less expensive than replacing the entire water heater.

You can install a water softener system by turning off the water supply, draining the water, and then connecting your device to the waterline. Next, you’ll fill your tank with the recommended amount of salt or brine (whichever your unit calls for; be sure to read the instructions). Turn the water supply on and check for leaks. You can opt to let your water run for a few minutes, then test it using strips.

The process of inspecting your water softener system is similar.
