"Simply PUR was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. They were personable and provided us with a lot of information and answered all of our questions. The installation process went smooth and they came back to check our water filtration systems and retested my water. They were honest and sincere and most importantly very reliable and professional the whole way through. Its always a pleasure dealing with Simply PUR. I highly recommend using this company and will continue to refer my friends and family to use them."

"Andy was quick, clean and very professional. I only requested the concrete and driveway and he noticed how much mildew was growing on the side of my building and with hesitation power washed that as well. Thank you for your services, I would definitely recommend his services to my family and friends."

"They did a great job! I knew I wanted a water filter for the house and drinking water since we were moving out of NYC and their awesome water to an area with a crappier water source. And I was about to have a baby! Anyway I did endless amounts of research, including multiple water companies that do their own install, and direct to consumer ones where I could just buy a system and install it myself, and after thinking about it for months (literally), I finally went with QWG. We worked with Maria (who is absolutely awesome) and the cost was reasonable. Between what they offered and how pleasant the experience was, I’m glad I picked them. We have a whole house filter and an RO system that they were able to hang in the basement so it doesn’t take up space under the sink, and it’s hooked up to both a faucet at the sink and the fridge as well. Exactly as I wanted. It’s been a couple months, and the water’s great so far. The support is great too, which is big. Can’t speak for long-term usage yet, but so far we’re very happy! Thank you!"

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

It’s not a good idea to oversize your water softener. Doing so will mean the tank doesn’t get full, which can lead to channeling. This leads to a large portion of the resin beads not being utilized and the beads at the bottom of the tank being overused. Over time, this will reduce the efficiency of your system, not to mention that the upfront cost of an oversized softener is unnecessarily high. If you have a timed regeneration cycle rather than a demand-based one, you’ll also spend far more on replacing salt than you need to.

Yes, a water softener can remove scale deposits. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, after you add a water softener to your home, “gradually the softer water will dissolve limescale scale deposits and remove the problem entirely.” Installing a water softener—or water descaler—will also help prevent new scale deposits from forming.

A good hardness level for drinking water can vary based on personal preferences, but an ideal level is 3.5 to 7 GPG. This means your water isn’t soft or hard. However, some people prefer the “fresh” taste from the minerals in hard water, while others like the smoother, “slippery” texture of soft water.

The most effective way to fix hard water in your shower is by installing a whole-home water softening system. This system treats water as it enters your home, removing the minerals that cause hardness before they can reach your shower or any other fixtures. While this is the most comprehensive solution, other methods are often temporary fixes. For a more affordable and shower-specific option, you can install a water-softening showerhead or a shower filter. However, these filters are generally less effective and may not remove all the contaminants that lead to limescale and hard water stains. By implementing a water softening solution, you can expect a reduction in mineral deposits and enjoy the benefits of cleaner-feeling hair and skin.

Yes, you can have both a water softener and a water filter. In fact, some manufacturers sell dual water softening and filtration systems that treat hard water and provide clean drinking water. If you’re unsure about what you need or want to discuss your options, reach out to a local water softener installation company.
