"Andres was extremely professional and polite. He arrived on time and with a sample book of vinyl sidings. He was able to match my siding exactly and his quote was very reasonable. He completed the work the same day. I would definitely recommend his company."

"Dan& sons installed a pitched metal burgundy roof, porch roofs & matching carport, on my 150 year old Fort Plain home. I have also left a previous review of their residential stainless steel siding job. Included is a photo of the original house when we bought it in 2008. Dan & sons Levi, David, & Junior, have not just transformed the house, but saved it. They work with the highest integrity and their work is outstanding. Their prices are affordable and competitive. I can recommend them with no hesitation."

"They went above and beyond. They did more than I originally asked them to do. They repaired the poor workmanship the previous roofer had done. I wasn't charged as much as another roofer asked and they did more work than the other roofer said he was going to do. They cleaned up completely without leaving any garbage behind. COULDN'T ASK FOR MORE."

"I recently had my roof replaced by Onn Point Restoration and I’m very impressed with their work. The crew was professional, showed up on time, and kept me informed throughout the whole process. They worked efficiently, and the quality of the finished roof is top-notch. They also made sure everything was cleaned up before they left. Overall, a great experience. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing roof work."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Yes, new stucco siding can increase your home's value and curb appeal, similar to other new siding materials. Homeowners can expect an average return on investment (ROI) of around 70%. For an average stucco installation costing $5,700, this can translate to a value increase of nearly $4,000. The value can be further enhanced by choosing high-end textures or simulating more expensive materials like brick. Stucco is also a durable, fire-resistant, and versatile material that can last 50 years or more, making it an attractive feature for potential buyers, especially in hotter climates where its insulating properties are beneficial.

Vinyl siding will fade slowly over time but will likely be most noticeable starting 10–15 years after installation. This timeline varies based on factors such as the climate where you live. In areas with more extreme hot or cold conditions, vinyl is likely to fade more quickly.

You cannot install clapboard siding on a bare, unprepared surface. Clapboard siding requires a clean, sturdy base made from plywood or similar materials, sometimes called backerboard. Then, it needs an underlayment or sheathing, a moisture membrane to help protect the exterior wall.

Note that sometimes clapboard siding is caulked as it’s installed for additional protection. We don’t suggest this: Caulking the siding can trap moisture inside the clapboards and lead to moisture damage over time. The siding needs some space to “breathe,” especially in rainy weather.

Regularly wash with mild detergent, inspect for rust, and repaint as needed to maintain its appearance.

Stucco is considered a type of cladding because it includes a built-in ventilation layer, a weatherproof membrane beneath that, and, often, a layer of insulation to improve building efficiency. The multiple layers of stucco—the scratch coat, the brown coat, and the finish coat—also create a more complex building membrane, so it’s more accurate to call it cladding. However, homeowners and contractors alike refer to stucco as siding.
