"These are the guys to hire. We have baseboard hot water heat and wanted a whole house air conditioning system. They had to install all the duct work and mechanical equipment to run the system. Our house is fairly large and we needed two separate condensers and air handlers to accomplish the task. We have 4 zones for the A/C. Dwayne and his crew came out, specified what we needed. They quoted the job quickly and scheduled and completed the job exactly as they said they would. We asked for a couple of modifications once they started - we wanted wifi thermostats. They quoted them on the spot and brought them the next day and installed them. They had to run special wiring for one of the thermostats... no problem. When the system was running for the first time the air flow was not quite right. We called and Dwayne came out the next day and fixed it. We got several quotes before we hired Prime Air. They were the best quote and they seemed like they were knowledgeable. We are very happy. They did a great job. We are Angie's List members and we would recommend them highly."

"Brian was very knowledgeable, honest and respectful. He showed up when he said he would and finished the whole new furnace install in a few days and considerably less than one of our other quotes. Can't think of one negative. We would highly recommend him."

"Outstanding from first meeting & purchase to 24Kw Generac's first start up. Amanda Tallman is completely thorough explaining all installation steps & the numerous items pertaining to this model. On the final day, in the rain, alone Amanda improved the propane line installed by gas supplier. We were so grateful for installation before cold weather & frozen ground occurs. Completely SATISFIED with 4 POWER NOW Roger Sevilla Throop Township."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Since your boiler keeps you warm and provides hot water to your home, you’re likely to notice issues with heating in your living space right away. The most obvious sign that your boiler is breaking is not getting any heat or hot water. You might also hear some odd sounds coming from your boiler during operation, the flame in your gas boiler is not blue, the pressure is inconsistent, or your boiler is using more energy than it should. If you notice any of these signs, be sure to call a pro right away.

The best time of year to purchase or replace an HVAC system, including components like an air conditioner or furnace, is during the off-season—spring and fall. During these periods, HVAC professionals are less busy than in summer and winter, when extreme temperatures create urgent demand. Shopping during the off-season can lead to savings of 10% to 15% on an AC unit and allows you more time to find the best deal and other cost-saving incentives. Typically, air conditioning units go on sale in the fall after demand drops, while furnace prices tend to decrease in the spring.

Hydronic and standard electric baseboard heaters differ in how they operate, their cost, and their performance. Standard convection heaters use electric coils to heat the air directly, while hydronic heaters warm a contained liquid like water or oil, which then radiates heat into the room.

In terms of cost and efficiency, hydronic heaters usually have a higher upfront price but are more energy-efficient and cheaper to run over time. This is because the heated liquid retains warmth, allowing the heater to continue providing heat for a while after the thermostat turns it off. In contrast, electric heaters provide heat more quickly but are less efficient.

Ultimately, the better choice depends on your priorities. If you need a room to heat up fast and have a lower initial budget, an electric heater might be suitable. If long-term energy savings are more important and you don't mind a slower heat-up time, a hydronic heater is likely the better option.

In some cases, conversion kits are available, but not all boilers are compatible. Conversion may require significant modifications and should only be performed by a qualified professional. Before making a decision, compare conversion costs to the cost of a complete replacement to determine the most cost-effective and reliable option for your home.

Using heating oil to heat your home has its advantages, but it also has its disadvantages.

Consider these drawbacks before installing a heating oil system:

  • Heating oil prices fluctuate frequently

  • Risk of oil spills or leaks

  • Produces more air pollution and soot compared to a gas furnace

  • Regular maintenance required for equipment

  • Need to reorder heating oil consistently to avoid running out
