"Bernie and Juan came on Sunday morning to fix my laundry room outlet that had no power (due to bad breaker) and installed a ceiling fan quickly. I appreciate their quick response to the Angi lead as I inquired for service the day before. I would definitely hire them again for electrical services. Thank you again Bernie and Juan!"

"I had an excellent experience with Triton Electrical! From start to finish, their staff was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly friendly. The team handled the wiring work with great attention to detail and made sure everything was done safely and efficiently. They took the time to explain the process, answer all my questions, and left the space spotless when the job was done. I highly recommend Triton Electrical to anyone looking for reliable electrical work and a team that goes above and beyond."

"Good, except he didn’t have the parts to recharge or replace the battery. Other than that he knew what he was doing and got it running again but only with the pull cord, not the battery. Overall, I'm very happy for what he did."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

It's possible to get power from an outlet for a light switch. However, you must install additional wiring to get current from the outlet to the switch and from the switch to the load it will control. Also, you must ensure that the outlet's electrical circuit can accommodate the additional demand.

How many string lights can be on one outlet depends on a number of varying factors, including the total wattage of your circuit, the type of lights, the energy needs of the lights, and cord specifications. It’s better to play it safe here to protect your circuit, so figure out the max wattage of your circuit, compare that to the lights, and move on from there. Generally speaking, LED string lights require less energy than incandescent bulbs, translating to a higher number of lights per circuit.

Just like apples in a bunch, one bad outlet can cause other outlets to stop working. This is especially true if the outlets are connected in a series on the same circuit. When one outlet develops a fault, it can spread to every outlet downstream of the original.

Yes, the National Electrical Code reviews household codes every three years. However, that doesn’t always mean that kitchen counter outlet requirements will change, but it does allow room for professionals to make updates. That’s why many older kitchens are no longer code-compliant thanks to changing rules for amperage, GFCI protection, and more.

Yes, you can get shocked while using a multimeter if:

  • You touch the metal tip while testing a live current.

  • The meter isn’t properly rated for the voltage.

  • The meter picks up on transient voltage that’s above the range you’ve set.

  • The meter has defective parts.

You can prevent shock and personal injury by using a multimeter properly and maintaining your device.

If you’re unsure how to use a multimeter or want help with your project, contact a local electrician to get the job done.
