"My old boiler was 53 years old! On its last legs. I got In town plumbings number from a neighbor who had her boiler installed by them. I called and the next day Guy was in my home assessing my situation. The next day I had a reasonable quote and the next week he was ordering my new boiler. He installed a new boiler and water tank in a day and a half! With his two employeesâ ¦.Frank and Carl. All these guys are amazing. Full disclosure I am a pain in the behind retired police officer. I ask all the silly questions. And Guy answered them all. This experience with our new boiler could not have gone better. I could go on and on. I highly recommend them for any plumbing situation."

"During the installation my wife had to run errand, plus make a slight diversion to the hardware store. Mo was nice enough to talk on the phone to the person in the store and explain in detail what part my wife needed for the installation. I would highly recommend the quality of his work, professionalism and patience."

"Braido is a nice family run company.  I had the original 25 year old furnace and AC. I has the last house on the block to replace them.  Needed to get it done before winter.  They showed up the day I called for an estimate, took measurements, checked old system and discussed in detail my options for a replacement system.   No pressure to sell me the best as we will down size in a few years. A few days later quotes for two systems arrived. I was able to scheduled an installation that fit my schedule.  It was your typical one day job.  Everything went smoothly with the installation, and the old hardware was taken away.  I like this company and recommend them, I give them and A.

"We dealt with Ralph, Ken, John, Tio, and Ryan and Steve at Crossroads plumbing for the leak in our gas pipe. Ralph patiently explained all the details and expected time frame for the job as well as the cost. All preparations for an unheated house were done by Ralph and others on that first day of the job. After more small leaks were discovered during the evaluation, we decided to have Ralph update the contract to install all new pipes rather than the time-consuming costly repair and pressure-testing of each section of pipe or joint. Two, three or four men came each weekday to finish the pipe removal and installation of all new pipes for 5 appliances. When they finished on the fourth day, Ralph was able to have the building inspector come and bring a blue card permit. Then there was a delay with Con Edison for two days. We were in touch with Ralph the whole time. What was projected to take ten days actually finished in 9 days. Con Edison came, turned on the gas and Crossroads Plumbing"

"We needed a new high-efficiency boiler to replace our old one that broke down after seventeen years (of inefficiency). Ed was great to deal with from start to finish. We shopped around, but Ed was the most communicative (with text and calls) and offered the fairest price. Will definitely use Orange County Mechanical again!"

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

An expansion tank must always be installed on the supply side, which is the side where the boiler sends water out to heat the systems. That placement allows the water to push against the air and condense properly as it is heated, then circulated through the system. Professional installers can recommend the best place on the supply side for an expansion tank.

Yes, government incentives and programs are available to encourage energy-efficient upgrades in many regions. These incentives may include tax credits, rebates, grants, and low-interest loans for homeowners who invest in energy-efficient improvements such as HVAC system upgrades, insulation, and efficient windows. The availability and specific details of these incentives can vary by location, so check with your local government or utility company to explore your options.

One of the easiest ways to determine which type of furnace will work best for your home is to contact a professional in your area. Many HVAC companies offer free consultations to help potential customers determine if they need a new system and which type would work best for their home and the community’s climate.

A furnace takes in cool air, heats it through the burner and heat exchanger, and sends the air on its way to warm your home. A boiler is a pressurized vessel that produces hot water or steam to heat the home and provide hot water. A boiler may or may not work together with a furnace.

If you go to turn it counterclockwise and it won’t turn anymore, it’s open. Like most other valves, you should be able to turn a radiator valve counterclockwise (to the left) to open it and clockwise (right) to close it. To close a radiator valve, turn it clockwise until you meet some resistance and can’t turn anymore, but do so carefully to avoid breaking the valve.
