"I had an excellent experience with Castlton Environmental Contractors, LLC. From start to finish, they made the process smooth and stress-free. Bill and Jennifer handled all the permits and paperwork, which saved me a lot of time and hassle. The work was completed in a timely, efficient, and professional manner, and the crew left everything clean when they were done. I truly appreciate their clear communication and attention to detail?highly recommend!"

"Had the opportunity to experience Lilco's work on several projects. These guys always had a professional attitude and took the time for all preparations and quality control. They did not leave a mess or unwarranted damages like so many fly-by-night contractors tend to do. They even magnet swept driveways for screws/nails whenever they finished loading out for the night. The owner is always up front about any costs, with no hidden charges to get the jobs done."

"I was selling my house in NY and had an underground oil tank that needed to be abandoned properly prior to closing. I hired Optima Environmental to perform the job. The sales rep came out that day and walked down and discussed with me what needed to be done. I was in the process of moving when she came back and I signed the paperwork. I was then informed that a CO had never been obtained for the new oil tank which had been installed 3 years earlier. Working with the Optima Representative (Shelley) and the town, I was able to get the permit's needed and following the job (which was performed in one day, while I had already moved to my new residence in LA) and the inspection by the town I was able to get the CO's required for my closing. All the people I met and dealt with from Optima Environmental were very professional, helpful and courteous. The final project turned out great!!"

"Excellent service! Called promptly. Arrived at time specified with crew. Pulled old pump and replaced pressure tank by early afternoon. From first contact to completion of project was less than 24 hours. When you have no water time is important. I’d recommend them."

"I am so impressed and pleased with the quality, integrity, and professionalism Rob Capella of Capella Enterprise Landscape Design and Development stands for. This gentleman has the heart of a teacher, along with a love of creating something functional and beautiful. He explained every step of the way what was needed for our retaining wall, and how a retaining wall functions; grading, drainage, equipment needed, etc. The gentleman in his crew worked tirelessly. He went above and beyond to work with us, especially since in digging they hit shale, which was a complete headache for them, and meant the job would take longer. Yes, it did mean that the job would cost more because you can't build a wall on shale, but Rob had thoroughly discussed with us ahead of time that you never know what you are going to find when you dig so we were definitely OK with having to deal with that. He also did what he could to make it work on both ends, and we are eternally grateful to him for that!"

Unfortunately, some plumbing scenarios, like a broken sewer pipe repair, will require excavation to complete the job. Plumbing excavation costs range from $30 to $70 per cubic foot. However, if you need additional trenching, expect to pay an extra $4 to $12 per linear foot. Keep in mind that these costs are on top of the plumbing repair costs, and they don’t account for labor costs. Consult your excavation specialist to determine an accurate estimate for your job.
The average cost for pool excavation is $2,500. This cost can range from $450 to $4,500, depending on the pool shape and size, time of year, and any need to move buried utilities.
When excavating for your pool, you might have to move existing utilities. You can expect to pay an additional $15 to $25 per linear foot to move gas lines. To move a septic system, it’ll cost an additional $2,000 to $20,000. A pool that is 10 feet by 12 feet averages $450 to excavate, and a 20-foot-by-40-foot pool averages $3,020.
The cost for residential excavation is $3,200 on average, ranging between $50 and $200 per cubic yard. Total costs could range from $500 to $15,000, depending on the project type, yard size, and soil type.
When a project needs an excavator, the contractor will subcontract one as part of the larger project. If you hire an excavation specialist, you can expect to pay between $40 and $180 per hour. When excavating, if you have soil with excessive rocks or clay deposits, expect an additional cost of $200 to $1,200.
Warm weather seasons like spring and summer are ideal times to excavate due to the ground being softer and easier to dig through. However, it is important to note that bad weather, like heavy blizzard conditions or torrential rainfall, can prolong the project length, increasing costs. That’s why it’s best to avoid excavating during winter or hurricane season, depending on your home’s location.
While completing an excavation project yourself is possible, we don’t recommend it. You’ll likely need to buy or rent the equipment necessary for the job. This equipment costs as $100 per hour or $2,200 weekly, increasing by as much as 50% for larger jobs.
In addition, completing an excavating job yourself poses a safety risk. If proper marking hasn't occurred, you risk hitting buried cables and other critical piping, like gas and water lines. Additionally, if working with excavation equipment, you’ll need to steer clear of any overhead wires. Leaving this project to an excavating professional is best.
