"After receiving many quotes to have my driveway redone, I happen to come across a neighbor who recently had some work done and he referred Frank at Moretti Paving. I found Frank to be knowledgeable and very responsive. Above all he was patient and took the time to answer all my questions and his crew were pleasant and professional. Icing on the cake...his pricing was the best. Our new driveway is absolutely all we hoped for. Simply put, your search should begin and end with Moretti."

"The job came out great. We rehabilitated an unused patch of pavement in my coop community in order to create a basketball court area. Frank and his team removed all of the existing material, set a new base level and created a nice smooth finish on a difficult and uneven piece of land. Frank was great to deal with, very forthright about the details of the job and his price was extremely competitive. I’m happy that we went with Moretti. Many community members have commented on the quality of the work and everyone is enjoying the new basketball area."

Small jobs welcome

"I had a wonderful experience with Land Stone. They demolished a stone wall that I had and rebuilt a new one, and it is absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend Jeff and cannot wait for him to re-do my driveway in the Spring."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Some commercial services use sand when clearing ice, but that’s to add instant traction, not to melt the ice. While you can scatter kitty litter, sand, or similar substances on steps, paths, or porches to improve safety during icy conditions, they won’t help melt hardened ice. Rely on salt or other de-icing methods to fully melt away stubborn ice.

The easiest way to remove snow from a roof involves using a roof rake that allows you to clear snow from the ground. Roof rakes are lightweight and feature adjustable handles, making them user-friendly for most people. This method also helps prevent ice dams and excess snow buildup, reducing the risk of roof damage during winter months.

When should you remove snow from your roof? A good rule of thumb is once six inches of snow accumulates.

That depends on the size of your snow blower and how efficiently it uses fuel. Most snow blowers will last between 1 and 2 hours on a full tank of gas. Larger blowers tend to use fuel more quickly and need refilling more often.

Keep in mind, the average snow blowing project for a home driveway takes around 30 minutes. Large driveways and yards will take around an hour. A full tank of gas should be more than enough for snow removal, although the height of the snowfall will have an effect, too.

Before firing up your snowblower, ensure that essential switches are in the correct starting position. Take a moment to double-check the throttle, fuel shut-off, and choke, ensuring they're firmly set to the "on" position. Precision in verifying each switch's alignment is crucial, so don't rush through this critical step.

DIY snow removal is entirely free, except for the cost of a shovel. However, it may not always be the best option for large driveways and areas with heavy snowfall; it’s strenuous work and can take a long time. Other wallet-friendly ways to remove snow include rock salt, hot water, a de-icing agent, or a leaf blower.
