"Mike was hired to evaluate and repair a second floor porch deck that showed signs of rot. His initial bid was for the best case repair; but needed to pull the face boards to see how extensive the work would be. The project doubled in size when additional issues were uncovered. Mike removed all rotted wood, replaced with AZEC synthetic, caulked, and repainted. There were no breaks in work from start to finish, debris was removed and the foundation plantings were undamaged. Very careful and professional work. Mike is my new go to guy. I would recommend Mike and his crew for any painting or carpentry project."

"I sold my home and during the inspection we identified the system had failed. An engineered plan later and a quick call to JP Martin Building Co (AKA AJM Septic) and we had an installer. We were able to go to closing with a plan and quote in hand and do the work post closing. Work was done quickly and professionally. Both buyer and myself were happy with the work done including a slight plan revision mid build. Great customer service and very ethical. A really great team to work with. I would recommend them to anyone."

"I've never met my pro, because I'm working most of the time. He was able to give me an estimate, and then we arranged for him to come on his own schedule. I'm sure we could meet, but he's doing a great job, and I can continue with my life. I come home and see my lawn is nicely trim and looks great. Thanks!"

"We hired Belden Hill to finish grade our side yard and part of our backyard. Hank was highly recommended by a local giant contractor that was to busy. Hank and his team came for the day and blew us away! They came early and left late and made sure to check in to make sure we were happy with the results throughout. I will definitely be hiring them back and recommend them!"

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Both rock salt and ice melt are naturally occurring salts. Rock salt is sodium chloride, which is the same as table salt. Ice melt products can be made from a combination of salts like magnesium chloride and calcium chloride or can be those salts alone.

Rock salt comes in large crystals, so it helps provide traction on icy surfaces, whereas ice melt products need to be mixed with sand to provide traction. Ice melt products work at lower temperatures than rock salt, so they might be a better choice if you have a harsh winter climate.

Ice dam removal is costly, but it’s absolutely worth it. If you leave an ice dam as is and don’t take care of it, you’re looking at potentially dangerous situations and high-cost repairs—like roof collapse, leaks, mold problems, gutter damage, and more. Removing ice dams is essential to keeping your home and your family safe in the snowy season.

You can quickly melt snow on your driveway by adding rock salt, hot water, de-icer, and other melting products. These snow removal methods will quickly melt any snow on slippery ice from your driveway, making it safer to maneuver. For a more permanent solution, consider using melting mats or installing a heated driveway system.

Some commercial services use sand when clearing ice, but that’s to add instant traction, not to melt the ice. While you can scatter kitty litter, sand, or similar substances on steps, paths, or porches to improve safety during icy conditions, they won’t help melt hardened ice. Rely on salt or other de-icing methods to fully melt away stubborn ice.

Snowblowers come in three different sizes: first-, second-, and third-stage blowers. Each additional stage is larger with higher intakes, more powerful, and has more gear options.

A first-stage blower, also called a snow thrower, is usually best for snow 6 to 8 inches or below. Electric snow blowers are usually only available in this size. If you regularly get snow that’s well above six inches, consider a second-stage snow blower. If snowstorms dump 2 to 3 feet of snow repeatedly during winter, you need a third-stage snow blower to tackle it.
