"Mike was quick to respond to my Home Advisor request for chimney repair. He was the only business to respond. His reviews were very good. Job was scheduled and completed within reasonable time frame. I may have paid a bit more but with no other bidders I just needed to get this job done. I believe the price was reasonable and job appears well-done and is warrantied."

"We have a brick chimney at our recently bought house that needed a chimney inspection. The previous owners put on a new roof and we were concerned about leaking. Vinny was very professional and checked everything thoroughly. He said all looked good and he would checked it again on the spring. I highly suggest him! Quick response time, courteous and very professional."

"12-18-18 When it comes to a wood burning stove you want to make sure it's cleaned well and that it is inspected by a man who knows something and Mark and his crew know a lot. I was very happy with the work. They are consstruction people and they know what to look for and they know what they are doing. I highly reccommend AAA Masonary and the owner Mark and his crew and they are nice people. Sincerely Mary Ann Muto"

"Felgemacher did a lot of work on my chimney and I couldn't be happier with everything. From the office staff answering all my questions and keeping me informed to the masons who worked at my home the entire experience was wonderful. Fireplace cleaning, inspection, new flue liners (in both furnace and fireplace), crown and tuck point, etc.. The workers were respectful of my home, did an excellent job, cleaned up and paid attention to all the small details that you want when you hire a contractor. They spent days in and out of my home which can be nerve wracking but they made it comfortable by being professional and courteous. Thanks to JP, Patrick, Alex, Kyle, Sal and Lisa for all you did. I recommend Felgemacher for any and all chimney needs."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

Yes, installing snow guards is highly recommended for metal roofs, especially if you live in an area with moderate to heavy snowfall. Metal roofs have smooth, slick surfaces that offer little traction, which can cause large, heavy loads of snow and ice to slide off all at once in a dangerous "rooftop avalanche."

This sudden release of snow can cause serious injury to anyone below and damage personal property, such as cars or landscaping.

Snow guards act as a barrier, holding the snow on the roof so it can melt and slide off in smaller, more controlled amounts. While low-slope metal roofs in areas with very little snow might not strictly require them, installing snow guards is a valuable safety measure to protect your family and property.

It is a bad idea to try to walk on a roof with snow on it. In fact, you should stay off your roof all year long, even when it is dry and sunny outside. There are too many things that can go wrong, and one misstep can cause serious injury or even death.

Rather, if you need to get something done on your roof, call in a pro. They have the right experience and know-how to get things done safely on a snowy roof, including snow removal.

Yes, many providers include video copies for your records. Confirm with your contractor.

If your roof is nearing the 20-year mark in age, you probably should start worrying about the roof’s longevity. If you don’t know the age, it may be time to figure out who installed your roof, so you can estimate the age accurately. You then can make plans to pay for the upcoming roof replacement. You also can learn how to inspect a roof yourself to look for signs of damage that may indicate a need for a replacement.

Sticky shoes help, but you shouldn't be walking on the steel roof— let the pros do that. it's dangerous enough to walk on asphalt shingled roofs which have quite a bit of texture. Stone coating adds a lot of grip, but it still doesn't lock your foot down, so if you absolutely have to be on the roof, make sure you’re secured in another way, like with the harness and rope.
