"I have been using Big Blue Pool for over nine years now. Let me start off by saying Emma is one of the Frontline workers for Big Blue Pool, She is professional she is cheerful and a pleasure to talk to , She is so full of energy I just love to talk to her each year. Mike the owner of Big Blue is great he’s professional he is a great person to deal with very fair and stands behind everything Big Blue does, they always seem to amaze me by what they’ll do for their customers. They open and close my pool every year, come immediately whenever I need a service call. They have done many service calls on my pool, and have given me advice on how to do a lot of things myself which isn’t common for a business when you think about it. There workers have always done a good job and were always very pleasant and willing to answer questions.. It also seems that everyone they recommend for certain things they don’t do , (for example Bob the diver fixes leaks for them) Has the same Work ethics they do. If you need a pool company for anything this is the company that you want to use. If I could I would’ve given them 10 stars."

Install Above Ground Pools questions, answered by experts

A pool heater is worth the expense, given that it can extend your swimming season by several months, depending on where you live. For many, adding a pool heater allows the pool to remain in service from May through mid-October. Even temperatures in the 40s and 50s are tolerable when the water in the pool is heated.

When looking into fiberglass vs. concrete pools, you will notice a big price difference. A fiberglass pool costs $15,000 to $75,000, whereas a concrete pool costs $35,000 to $100,000. While concrete pools are customizable, fiberglass is faster to install and requires less maintenance. Additionally, you can expect to pay $25,000 to maintain a concrete pool over a ten-year span. On the other hand, a fiberglass pool only requires basic maintenance like testing water levels and cleaning.

Baking soda can help to clear your cloudy pool water if the alkalinity or pH is too low. Adding baking soda to your pool will increase the alkalinity and help bring your pH levels to a more comfortable range. Be sure to test the water as you add baking soda.

Yes, salt water pools are more expensive than chlorine-based pools because they require a more complex system than traditional, chlorinated pools. This added complexity means more skilled labor and a higher investment upfront. Also, if you need to repair a salt water pool, finding a contractor with the needed experience is generally more time-consuming.

While some water loss from splashing and evaporation is normal, a rapid or excessive drop in the water level may indicate a leak. Other signs of a pool leak include unexplained soft or wet spots in the yard, cracks in the pool structure or falling tiles, higher-than-normal water bills, persistent algae growth or water discoloration, and standing water around the pump, pipes, or other pool equipment.
