"All I can say is that Luis and Eric are amazing! They installed my JuiceBox 40 amp electric car charger in an hour and half! Super professional, very clean work, and I appreciated that they wore boot covers so my house wouldnâ t get dirty. Since they ran the wire through my basement they had to remove my ceiling panels, after the install they cleaned the floors and installed the ceiling panels back like it never happened! All in all amazing company, super fair price compared to other companies, and their communication with us was beyond amazing. Dominic came by yesterday for an estimate and it was installed in less than 24 hours! I cannot say anymore amazing things about this company and will be a repeat customer for my other projects. 5/5 STARS! â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ â ï¸ Summary: 1. Very Fair price compared to competitors 2. Highly skilled and professional work 3. Free Estimate 4. Will not leave you in the dark and will communicate with you throughout the process and any questions you may have. 5. Accepts Credit Cards"

"Wow, they just left and I am so beyond impressed with everything, from start to finish. Adam helped with our estimate and was a pleasure to work with. He came next day for our estimate and from there, went above and beyond to answer every single question and concern of mine, he was fair in his pricing, very timely in his responses and even remembered the layout of our home when I called a month later. They were even able to schedule the job next day due to the inclement weather. Jim and Matt arrived early and were so courteous and pleasant to work with (they were even extremely considerate of my infant's nap schedule). We had them install two new outlets for ac's and electronics and they had to snake the wires in impossible places. Jim listened to every single one of my concerns and came up with excellent solutions and they left everything in better condition than they found it. When I asked if there was another way to get the job done, he listened and offered to change his plan. It was so nice having a contractor actually listen to you and work with you. I will definitely be hiring them again - I am so glad I finally found an electrician that is respectful of an older home. Thank you Adam, Jim & Matt! You guys rock!"

"Peter and Alex were excellent workers. They did a great job finishing up our bathroom remodel. They did our shower niche in tile, including the cutting and fitting of the shelves, and put on our shower curbs. They also installed a pocket door lock, and did the plumbing to hook up our sink. They did a great job cutting all the tile, getting it to match up just right, grouting everything etc. They were on-time, courteous, and very knowledgeable about everything. They were also extremely neat and cleaned up after themselves. My husband and I only wish that we would have known about them before. If we did, we would have had them do the whole remodel. If we ever need more work, I will be sure to call them."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

In most municipalities, you will need a permit to install a permanent home generator, including emergency backup, partial-home, and whole-home generators. A permit for a generator usually costs between $50 and $250, depending on where you live. Your electrician or certified generator installer will usually pull the permit for you—and might be required to do so by your building department—but you’ll be on the hook for the cost of the permit. You should ask your installer before agreeing to any work if they will pull the necessary permits for your project.

No, you should never plug a generator directly into a wall outlet in your house. This practice is extremely dangerous, often illegal, and can cause "back-feeding," where power from the generator flows back into utility lines, creating a life-threatening hazard for utility workers. It can also damage your home's electrical system, including appliances like pumps and HVAC fans. If the main power is restored while the generator is connected, it can destroy the generator and cause an electrical fire. To safely connect a generator, you must use a professionally installed transfer switch or an interlocking kit, which prevents back-feeding by disconnecting your home from the utility grid before the generator provides power.

Generators are safe to use as long as they are installed and operated correctly according to the manufacturer's recommendations. The most critical safety tips are to never use a portable or fuel-powered generator inside an enclosed space due to the risk of lethal carbon monoxide poisoning; always operate it outdoors where fumes can dissipate away from your home. Additionally, never attempt to connect a generator to your home’s electrical panel yourself—hire a professional to ensure the setup meets safety standards. Finally, avoid overloading the generator by not connecting more appliances than it is rated for, as this can damage your equipment or cause a fire.

Sizing a generator is a careful process that requires calculating the electrical load of your entire house. You have to take into account every device you want to use and their wattage requirements, plus the wattage needed to start them, and look for a generator that can safely run all that at around 80% capacity.

In more practical terms, a small home can run on a 10,000-watt generator (and if you only want to power a few key appliances, much less than that). A mid-sized home may need something between 15,000 and 22,000 watts. Larger homes require 25,000 watts or more.

If you’re deciding between a solar battery versus a generator for the best backup power solution, you can take a few factors into consideration. Solar batteries are quiet while generators can be quite loud. Generators have a lower up-front cost, but they require fuel and ongoing maintenance while solar batteries are more expensive but don’t have many ongoing costs.
