"Josh Taft and Brad were very personable, professional and efficient. They were also respectful of my house. This is the second time I’ve used your company. No offense, but I hope I don’t need the services of your company again."
"Great company to work with, very friendly knowledgeable people and customer satisfaction is their goal. Matt and his crew did a superb job restoring our finished basement after it got flooded when our sump pump had failed during heavy rains. Dual pumps were installed, along with waterproof and mold proof walls and flooring and a Sedona dehumidifier air purification system."
"We hired them to install the driveway, sidewalks, and patios. They are very responsive to customer service. Excellent job. Have already recommended them to many. Beautiful job."

"In response to my initial email inquiry, Eric, the owner, came to the house and we discussed all of the issues and how they would deal with them. He took measurements and pictures and was very professional, polite and encouraging. Within a few days he emailed me a very precise and detailed proposal outlining all three jobs and the estimated cost. I immediately accepted. Adam came to the house and took some more measurements and pictures and said the work would begin the following week and take three days. The required permits were taken care of right away. As scheduled, Paul (the onsite foreman), Lloyd and TJ showed up and began to work. Braces were installed against the basement wall after the cracks were repaired. On the exterior a French drain was put in along the side of the house extending to the ditch out front. The old walkout was excavated and a new permentry door was installed. The work went as planned with no problems and was finished in three days. All debris was taken care of and they cleaned up when they were through. All of my questions and concerns were answered. Adam followed up the day after the work was completed to see if I was satisfied and to answer any additional questions. I also must give kudos to Cynthia, the office manager, who made the paperwork and payment process smooth and effortless. The quality of the work and the quality of the employees is just exceptional. "
"Great experience. All staff were professional, respectful, and empathic. The staff all followed through with everything discussed and kept me informed every step of the way. The staff responded in a very prompt manner, and always with a positive professional manner. I would give them a 10 star on customer service if I was allowed, but the graph only allows a 5 star max. It has been a pleasure to work with this company and the people were real people, never felt like a number in their busy schedule. They went above and beyond in making a referral to another professional to assist us with another concern that did not relate to their work scope. I cant say enough about the politeness and responsiveness of all the staff which I came in contact with. It was a truely a pleasure interacting with Midstate Basement. I would recommend them to anyone who needs work done."
"I called numerous companies to give me an estimate on waterproofing our basement. Brandon was quick to respond and was able to address the problem and find a solution that was directed at the specific issue. Highlander was easy to work with and actually enjoyed having the entire crew at the house. They went above and beyond answering any questions with a guarantee and cost that I could live with. I highly recommend Highlander to anyone looking to fix a damp basement."
Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts
A vapor barrier keeps moisture out of the crawl space, while insulation reduces the amount of unconditioned air—and sometimes moisture—that enters the space. Coupling a vapor barrier with insulation can help prevent humidity and related moisture damage in a crawl space while also making your home more energy-efficient. Just be sure to use insulation that won’t get damaged from moisture, like rigid foam board or expanding spray foam insulation.
Standard homeowners insurance policies may cover basement water damage or flooding, but only if it is caused by a sudden and accidental event that is a covered peril, such as a burst pipe or a failing appliance. Damage caused by natural flooding from extreme weather, groundwater seepage, or heavy rain is typically excluded and requires a separate flood insurance policy. Some insurers also offer an optional water backup endorsement for issues like sewer backups. Review your policy or speak with your agent to understand your specific coverage.
Yes, water and water vapor can seep through cracks in your basement floor, which means you should address all basement floor cracks, even if they don’t indicate structural issues. Sealing settling cracks and shrinkage cracks is a good idea to keep water and moisture outside where it belongs. Doing so can improve your indoor air quality, reduce the risk of mold growth, make your home more comfortable, and help prevent pest infestation.
Ductwork sweats due to a temperature difference between the air inside the ducts and the surrounding air, similar to how a cold drink develops condensation in the heat. This sweating is a sign that your HVAC system is not operating at peak efficiency. The best way to keep ductwork from sweating is to wrap it in proper insulation, which also improves your system's energy efficiency. Another option is to close off your crawl space and install a dehumidifier to dry the air and lower its dew point.
Crawl spaces are the more desirable option overall because they provide additional space for storage and utilities, but they are more expensive to install and maintain. Slab foundations are considered a better option in warmer climates where the depth of the frost line isn’t an issue because they’re more affordable, but crawl spaces are better in areas where the frost line is deep or where flooding can be an issue.
