"Michelle at Premier did a great job of educating me on how to care for my 20+-year-old leather coat, on what needed to be done to renew it, and cleaned it so it was almost like new. She also took over cleaning a fine Italian wool jacket I sent her, and even found buttons to replace ones on the sleeve that had fallen off She's professional, prompt, and gets the job done! I have no worries when I send my clothes to her in Calif from Wyoming (because we have no comparable specialty cleaners here)."

Upholstery Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, mold on wood furniture can be dangerous, especially if it is identified as black mold. Inhaling spores or touching mold can make some people sick with respiratory issues, skin rashes, and eye irritation. However, some people have mild or no symptoms after exposure to mold. If you are going to clean mold off wood furniture, you should wear protective equipment to avoid direct exposure.

Professionals use pH-balanced solutions, fabric protectors, and safe steam cleaning technology for specific fabrics. These products are designed to break down dirt effectively without leaving residues.

Vinegar is acidic and makes a great cleaning agent for many items throughout the house, including some upholstery. It should not be used for any upholstery with the code S or X. It can be used for W labels. To use a vinegar solution, mix equal parts water and vinegar and blot the stain using a gentle circular motion with a clean microfibre cloth and then allow to dry completely. As with any DIY solution, test a small and inconspicuous section first.

If there is only a small amount of gum, it’s entirely possible to remove it on your own. What you’re unable to pick or scrape off, try to scrub out with warm soapy water. You can try freezing the garment and removing the hardened gum. Some swear by rubbing peanut butter on the gum before washing. No matter which method you choose, do not put your clothing in the dryer until the gum is 100 percent removed.

Wood furniture can become sticky for several reasons. Often, it's due to an accumulation of dirt, grime, or oils on the surface. Another common cause is using too much polish or wax, which can leave a sticky residue, especially after cleaning. If excess product is the culprit, you can remove the buildup with a cloth dampened with warm water and a little dish soap. Afterward, you can reapply a small amount of polish or wax, making sure to wipe away any excess. However, if cleaning doesn't help, the stickiness may be a sign that the furniture's finish is failing. As varnish and lacquer age, they can degrade and become tacky. In this case, the furniture will need to be refinished to resolve the issue.
