Customers say: Quality work

"Have had Randy and his crew several times now for jobs. Removed several large pines. ,Ground stumps from pines Had them cut out several smaller pine and ash along driveway. Had some other ash that had gone dead . Storm damaged trees cleaned up, all these stumps ground also. Today had a damaged tree laying on top of my machine shed , a ash that was dead down and cleaned up. One very large maple with dead center and damaged trees next to it They really worked hard it was huge. Chipped limbs on all these jobs also. They always work very well together, very safety conscious always knowing where other workers are to avoid dangerous situations Very excellent work each time. If I have any other tree care needs I will be calling Randy Recommend him to anyone who needs tree service done.,"

"After disappointing quotes from other tree services with warnings their heavy equipment might damage water pipes and make ruts in the yard where the large dead ash tree was to be removed, I was thrilled when Martin Tree Service simply took a couple of chainsaws and precisely cut that tree to land exactly between perennial flower gardens and other obstacles. Experts with fair prices! I highly recommend Martin Tree Service!"

"ProTree removed 5 trees from my yard. 1 of them was a real bear in between my neighbors house & mine. Landed tree down w/ absolute precission. 2 other trees had power lines running though them. Again aced it. Couldn't be more pleased w/ his professionalism, service, & rates. Also, when I paid him, he pointed out I overpaid him. Would give 6+ stars for excellence if I could. Thank you Caleb."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You need to remove all branches affected by Dutch elm disease. If your tree has several affected branches, you will probably need to remove the entire tree. First, consult a pro to be sure that you’ve correctly identified it as an elm tree. Make sure the tree is properly disposed of with a plastic covering or through debarking, chipping, or burning.

Rock salt or Epsom salt can damage and kill tree roots over several weeks and can even assist in removing the tree's stump. However, you need to drill holes or cut into the stump and surface tree roots to inject them properly with the salt. Repeat the process every two weeks until the roots visibly rot away.

All of the tree root removal methods mentioned above are effective on any kind of root, whether it’s still growing or simply needs a gentle nudge to finish decomposing. The only difference is that larger roots tend to be harder to remove and may require multiple chemical treatments as well as manual labor to eradicate.

White vinegar does not kill ivy on trees because its acetic acid concentration is not high enough to overpower it. Vinegar is an effective herbicide for weeds and other plants, but not for the strength of most ivies, including poison ivy and English ivy. You should use an herbicide to kill ivy, such as one with glyphosate, imazapyr, or triclopyr.

Tree removal can be quite expensive, especially for larger projects, but you can use the following tips to help keep costs down:

  • Do the yard cleanup afterward yourself

  • Choose to leave the logs on your property and split them yourself

  • Opt to leave the stump in the ground and tackle stump grinding yourself

  • Pull permits for tree removal, if necessary, to avoid fines

  • Pay to have multiple trees removed at once

  • Remove tree in the late winter or early spring during off-season
