"My house was tested before I bought it as part of a home inspection and it measured to be 36, where anything above 4 is bad. I called and spoke with Jeff and he expressed confidence that he would be able to get that below 4 with little to no issue. Fast forward and the seller decided to use someone else and they did a horrible job but the radon tested at around 4. I called Jeff hires him to redo the job and now the radon level is at a 0.6! Great guy, very professional, and an excellent communicator. Highly recommend you call Jeff at WNY Radon Mitigation if you have any radon issues or concerns."

"I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I checked a few Radon companies and Certified Radon was the best. They seemed to be the most knowledgeable, had the best warranty/guarantee, and actually came in cheaper than some of the others. They brought my radon level from a mid-6 to less than 1 on the first test. If you need radon services I would highly recommend."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Keeping radon from getting into your home is much better than having to get rid of it once it's already indoors. While there may not be a way to fully prevent radon from getting into your home, there are things you can do to reduce the gas's ability to enter.

Sealing foundation cracks and openings can help keep the gas from seeping inside. Improving air flow, such as by opening windows, can also be helpful. If you're building your home from scratch, talk to your contractor about using radon-resistant construction to keep the gas out.

You can vent radon out of your house sometimes by simply opening a window, but it won’t remove the source, and will likely rise above recommended levels quickly. A professional will be needed to assess your home, and determine the best strategy for radon removal. Active radon sump pumps and soil depressurization systems are often used to forcefully vent the radon from your home.

If high radon levels are detected, steps include sealing entry points, installing a mitigation system, and retesting the air regularly to ensure reduced levels.

The natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water can cause radon to appear in a home. The gas seeps into homes through cracks in foundations, walls, or floors, as well as through gaps around pipes or construction joints. Radon levels are influenced by soil composition, building materials, and ventilation. Poorly sealed or airtight homes can trap radon, allowing it to accumulate.

No, radon mitigation systems do not decrease home value or make a home harder to sell. In areas where homes experience similar radon exposure risks, a radon mitigation system is viewed as an improvement. Potential homebuyers often opt to buy a home with a radon mitigation system already installed to reduce the risk of cancer for their families.
