Customers say: True professional

"I called Mason Carpentry in an emergency. My husband was coming home after 3 mos in rehab. To accommodate a teleport that is being installed, the electricians removed a fan and light fixture, leaving the room in total darkness. I needed a light fixture installed and a mirror rehung. William came immediately, worked efficiently, did an excellent job and charged a very reasonable price. In addition to being a really nice guy, I was extremely pleased with the work that he did and the level of professionalism that he displayed. I will definitely call him again and will recommend him to our neighbors."

"Moises and Edward and the crew did a repair of my facia. They told me to get PVC so it would last longer. They also repaired cracked walls and ceiling and painted. They did perfect work. Did so good I kept finding more work for them because it looked so good. They are so polite and respectful and right on time. Also they are very fair with their prices and don't push for or more work. I now consider them friends. Don't waste you're time because you won't beat their prices. They can do anything too. Bathroom, kitchen, floors. I will hire them again they are the best."

"I am very happy with the prompt service. I needed my electric service replaced from where it attached to my house, and the circuit box. Brian came Monday and I had new service Wednesday by 7pm. They were here for about 7 hours. I also had 3 new circuits and an attic fan replaced. This is the second time I have used HomeAdvisor and will definitely use them in the future."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

There are many types of ceiling fans, from self-automated smart ceiling fans to outdoor ceiling fans that provide additional comfort to your patio. What you choose all comes down to function and personal taste.

Consider your ceiling height when selecting a ceiling fan. Rooms with ceilings under eight feet high will do well with low-profile ceiling fans, also known as flush-mount or hugger ceiling fans. If your home has cathedral ceilings or ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, you’ll need a large ceiling fan with a heavy-duty motor to get adequate air circulation.

The number of blades for your fan poses both advantages and disadvantages. Typically, the more blades on a fan, the better the air distribution and cooling effect, but this also means that your fan will have more wear on its motor. For small rooms, three-blade fans should work fine. For larger areas like living rooms, four or five-blade fans might be the better option.

Yes, ceiling fans come with a few other features that help with function, style, and convenience. Multi-speed fans can give you specialized control over the airflow. Consider getting one with an integrated light to save ceiling space. Some ceiling fans come with a remote control that enables you to change direction without climbing a ladder. Of course, you can also consider installing a wall switch to enjoy that convenience.

To determine if your ceiling box can support a fan, you must check if it is specifically fan-rated. Manufacturers are required to indicate this on the box itself. You may need to remove the existing light fixture to look inside the ceiling box for an inscription stating it is rated for fan use. If you do not see this confirmation, the box is likely not strong enough and must be replaced with a fan-rated junction box. For a proper and safe installation, you should also use a fan brace to secure the new box between the ceiling joists, which provides the necessary support for the fan's weight and motion.

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.
