"I had a whole-house generator installed by an electrical contractor. It was wired incorrectly. I made an appointment with Mr. Electric of Queensbury, NY. They diagnosed the issue, ordered the parts, and installed them in a reasonable time. This was not their problem, but they treated it like it was. I am very impressed with their professionalism. Their employee Brian treated our home like it was his. When he had to enter our home, he put covers on his boots so he wouldn't track mud and snow into our home. He gave us an ETA for when he would come to do the work and explained the billing. If I need any electrical work done in the future, it will be done by Mr. Electric of Queensbury, NY."

"WB Lightning Rods did an excellent job installing lightening rods on our home. The owner stayed onsite the entire time to supervise the work. He took extra care to plan the rod and cable placement to ensure the proper protection and retain the aesthetics of our home. His crew were knowledgeable, polite, neat and efficient. Electrical questions, answered by experts

A 3-prong, 15-amp, 120-volt outlet is standard in the U.S. These have two vertical slots and a U-shaped grounding hole, which suits most home electronics, from televisions to microwaves. Three-pronged outlets are safer than 2-pronged ones, as the third wire, known as the grounding wire, helps prevent shocks and electrical fires.

Poorly designed and incorrectly installed outlets can create an electrical fire hazard, as do some phone chargers and adapters that plug into these outlets. However, most outlets are perfectly safe as long as they remain in working condition. Keep an eye on what you are plugging into the outlet and stay alert for signs of outlet malfunction, like sparks, burning smell, or frequent circuit tripping.

It is safe to run a generator continuously, but you must follow safety protocols to ensure personal and home safety. Read the manufacturer’s instructions for specific recommendations, but the general recommendation is to turn generators off overnight or when you’re away from the house. Overworked generators can pose a fire hazard and if your generator is not in a well-ventilated area, running it continuously could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.

A gas stove doesn't always need a dedicated circuit. Unlike an electric range, which uses 240 volts and requires a 240-volt receptacle, a gas stove only uses 120 volts. In some cases, your electrician will need to replace the existing two-pole circuit breaker with a single-pole circuit breaker as well as swap out the existing 240-volt receptacle with a 120-volt replacement.

Updating your old outlets, or adding grounding clamps to a metal box are two methods. Each home is different. Consult an electrician for advice on grounding a wire without doing extensive work to dig into the ground.
