"Howard Falkow was incredibly helpful and responsive from the beginning.  He walked us through the analysis of the energy leaks in the house and outlined several options to help us save on our energy bill.  Rather than immediately pitch us on the most expensive option, he gave us an objective cost/benefit analysis as to which package would result in the best energy savings per cost.
Howard was very responsive over email as well as on the phone and he and his staff were always friendly, professional, and very accomadating when it came to scheduling.
Howard and NY Metro Insulation provide an excellent service for anyone who is looking to make their home more energy efficient.  They are honest, professional, and perform high quality work (we noticed results immediately after the work was performed) and I would recommend them very highly to anyone in the area.

"We hired Energy Evolution in December of 2016 to complete a "Hot Roof" installation in our Bi-Level High Ranch in NY. The work was done in a professional manner and based on a separate third-party evaluation of the work it was above and beyond what was agreed to in the contract. What makes this "special" or different is that we had deck work completed in the Summer of 2018 which ruined the insulation in our attic. We contacted "Sam" and explained what happened and within 6 weeks he showed up at no charge to repair the damage created by the Deck Project. You really don't know how good the service is until something like this happens and it is worth noting that once you are his customer, he will take care of you. I have attached an image of the "before/after" which was filled in almost 2 years after the initial work was completed. Great Job!"

"Excellent.  The most professional of those we interviewed.  Really knew what they were doing, and told us why the method they suggested would be the best for us (as well as the least expensive).  Did everything they said they would, and more as the found places uncovered during demolition, at no additional charge."

"Joe did a great job on this, our dining room was a add on to connect the original home and the garage and had no insulation and boy in the winter it was unusable as well as the kitchen basically (the best part of the house). Joe came and drilled small holes in the attic floor that they sealed up later to allow for blowing in the insulation. And they cleaned up well. we have a 20 month old but there was nothing left over for the baby to put in her mouth. Joe is great! Our dining room is toasty and the kids can play in there year-round Plus they are were less than half of the expensive "efficiency" guys PSEG sent over. Those providers wanted to charge $10,000+ for basically the same job."

"They arrived on time. They offered assistance with moving the furniture out of their work area. The workers made sure to cover the floors and all the furniture before they began their work. The work was completed in two days as predicted. They forgot to include one of the entryways ceilings In the contract. I mentioned this to the worker and after a phone call to Ari they proceeded to do the work. Although I would have liked to see Ari at some point during the insulation process, I believe the work was done well. We will wait for this coming winter to give our final verdict.

"We are very happy with the outcome, we selected Paragon because they are Pella certified and have an excellent rating on Angie's list.  The addition of a picture window transformed the look of our house and the worker were polite and friendly and did an excellent job

"The owners of the company were very professional and were onsite while the work was being complete. They team they have is full of hard workers. They went above and beyond to make sure that the pipes that run under the floor were insulated properly so that they would not freeze as they had done in the past. With this winter being as cold as it has been I have not had any issues so I can honestly say they did an outstanding job."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

It is usually possible to install insulation yourself, but it’s often better to hire an insulation professional. An experienced insulation pro can determine which type of insulation is best for your space and the R-value get the most value and comfort in your home. Certain types of insulation can cause skin, eye, and lung irritation, and a professional will have the equipment necessary to keep themselves safe and limit the effect on your indoor air quality after the installation. Certain types of insulation—like blown-in and loose-fill insulation—demand a professional for proper functionality and safe installation.

Because of the moisture concern, open-cell foam requires a vapor barrier. The barrier protects against high humidity and moisture exposure in rooms such as basements, bathrooms, or exterior walls. It wouldn't be necessary in dry interior spaces.

Durable materials suited for climate include aluminum for coastal areas or composite wood in varying environments for durability and minimal upkeep.

A vapor barrier can last over 20 years, but they are vulnerable to pests, flooding, and other natural disasters. If your home weathers a storm or is treated for any pest infestation, make sure to have a drywall pro come check the integrity of your vapor barrier. It’s also important to have a pro install a vapor barrier since improper installation can lead to tears or leaks in the barrier that shorten its lifespan.

Yes, you should add an insulative cover to outdoor water spigots in the winter for better protection against freezing. Make sure to use waterproof insulating material—something like a towel or old shirt can actually make the faucet more prone to freezing when the material soaks up rain or snow.
