"I did not lie the person who did the estimate because I mentioned that the branches of a huge oak tree from my neighbors hose are on top of my garage and he answer that he got pay for what the customer told him to do,so on the roof of my neighbor there are not branches hanging. He was not a very customer oriented person and I found him arrogant, coul had answer in a different way.

"My project was a tall tree which was leaning precariously, and capable of doing extensive damage to my, and my neighbors property. The tree was removed without causing any property damage. In addition, several large branches over the roofs of my, and my neighbors house were safely removed. The men doing this work were professional, experienced, worked safely, and performed a cleanup upon completion that belied the fact that a major job had just been done. I was contacted quickly by the Manager, the crew arrived when promised, the price was competitive, and the job was done to my complete satisfaction. I would highly recommend America Tree Service for your project."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

A dead tree should always be cut down, because it could fall and cause injuries or damage, and it can also attract insects like carpenter ants. A tree that’s diseased beyond repair should also be cut down, but it’s not always easy for a homeowner to tell. Signs of disease include dying branches, a hollow trunk, leaning, and discolored or missing leaves, but your best bet is to hire a local arborist who can evaluate the tree and tell you if it can be saved or should be cut down.

In some states and municipalities, you will need a permit to remove a tree on your property. In many cases where permits are required, a tree must reach a maximum height before a permit is required to remove it. You can either ask your local building department or a tree removal professional if you’ll need a permit. If you do, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 for the permit alone. Your tree removal company should pull the permit for you and include the permit fee in your total.

Usually, trees cannot grow back after their stump has been ground, but some very hearty types of trees can. For example, if you have a black locust or Redford pear, the grinding will need to go deep to prevent them from growing back. Ask your tree service or stump removal expert whether your tree can resprout after its stump is ground down.

Once you confirm a tree is dead, you should remove it. Dead trees eventually fall, and larger trees in particular can cause damage to rooftops, fencing, flowers, and other objects. As we mentioned, letting decayed wood stay in your yard also invites risks to the surrounding landscaping and vegetation.
