"We have had a host of critters make themselves at home in our attic, and have used a few other big name pest control companies. This time, we had a bat / some bats call our home theirs. Nick from Dunbar came to give us a quote, seemed extremely knowledgeable and had a great price, so we went with him and I couldn t be happier. Nick was always punctual, kept up communications with us, sealed up the house with a one way door, and our bat is gone. I expect we will use Nick and Dunbar Pest control again in the future!"

"Everything was explained satisfactorily. This was our first experience with pest control, so we were apprehensive at first. It's early for carpenter ants to appear so we got on top of it right away. let's see if the treatment works in the ant's busy season. "Matt was wonderful. He removed the nest from upper bathroom vent, cleaned and installed a screen in vent so I won't have that problem again. I was so satisfied with job and price. The "pest control" companies don't have a license to remove wildlife, they passed me onto construction companies that wanted $1,000 for this job!!!! Thankfully Angie's List had Get Out Critters. As nocturnal animals, mice are most active at night. During the day, they prefer to hide in cool, dark, and undisturbed places. Common hiding spots include spaces between walls, inside pantries and cupboards, behind sofas, and in old boxes or other clutter.

If your house is full of things that attract spiders, you’re more likely to have a population explosion. When you have lots of cracks leading to warm, secure spots in your home, why wouldn’t they want to come in? Especially if your home has plenty of other meal-ticket insects, like flies, roaches, and fleas. Sealing up obvious cracks and gaps and keeping your house bug-free makes it a less appealing place for spiders.

Cold winter months won’t always kill off fleas completely. Your home is typically warm enough for fleas to survive or, at least, for the eggs to lay dormant, ready to hatch when warmer weather arrives. Plus, waiting for the winter isn’t a good idea. The infestation will continue to grow, and fleas carry pathogens that can harm humans and pets.

In addition to a clean home, fleas dislike oils made from plants that are naturally bug-resistant or poisonous to bugs. That includes myrtle, mint, eucalyptus, and especially cedar oil. Common household remedies like baking soda, garlic and apple vinegar don’t have any effect on fleas. Don’t spray essential oils directly on your own skin or your pets (and their bedding, because it can be a skin irritant. Stay away from tea tree oil. In pure form it can be very toxic to pets. Always ask your vet if you have any questions.

Make it easier for your inspector to do a thorough assessment by preparing your home ahead of time. That includes:

  • Noting any signs of pests around the home

  • Removing obstacles in the way of the attic, basement, plumbing, garbage, and other key areas that inspectors will need to access

  • Keeping children and pets away from inspection areas
