Small jobs welcome

"Scott and Precision Painting of Long Island and New York was a pleasure to work with. His team was always on time, and very careful with their equipment and detail oriented. His team cleaned up all the holes and marks in our ceiling and walls. They spent a lot of time on this prep work to make sure the paint was perfect. They painted our whole first floor walls, new mouldings (crown and base), ceilings, and stairwells. The first floor of the house looks brand new! Scott was very helpful in the scheduling. We were dealing with numerous items (kitchen install, new hardwood floors, new mouldings) and was able to work with us to make sure we got the job done while still having a flexible schedule around different contractors in our house. The painting crew was great. Very respectful, and happily touched up some areas we missed originally in our original estimates. Scott also stopped by a few times each day to check on the team and progress, and also to ask us our feedback. This was great. There are a lot of Painting "companies" out there. Some wanted over double what I paid! Some are not a real company! Many have similar names!!! Make sure use Precision Painitng of Long Island and New York."

"This was the first time we had our deck power washed and stained by Rob. It hasn't looked this good since it was built. He also replaced some broken lattice work and everything he did was in a very skillful manner. We've already asked Rob to do other jobs for us around the house. We highly recommend him."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The opposite is actually true: Wood stains tend to appear lighter when they’re fully dry. However, stains may darken as they weather and oxidize with age. Stains might also darken on surfaces left in direct sunlight, as UV rays can break down pigment particles and cause them to darken over time.

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.

Yes, many repair services include repainting to match the color of the existing siding or walls. Most professionals offer this service to ensure the repaired area blends in seamlessly.

Avoid using cleaning products that are abrasive or contain bleach or acidic components on composite decking to avoid discoloration. Early-generation Trex decking isn’t designed to handle pressure washer cleaning—and if you use them on second-generation boards, always use a low setting to avoid the risk of damage that can risk voiding your warranty.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.
