"As soon as I picked the send button on Angis list, Anthony called me 1 min later, asked what issue in having and told me someone will be there within 1-2 hours. Napoleon arrived and hour later. Asserted the job and snaked both sides of my sewer. Clean up was ok, I had to sanitize after he left. He showed me what the issue was step by step. Overall a good experience. Iâ m going to join their yearly program."

"I cannot recommend Ackeno highly enough. He is a great communicator, truly responsive, clear and honest about the scope of work, careful and thorough in his workmanship. He does the job right the first time and helps you plan ahead for the future. We needed our entire sewer line replaced & he worked with us on a price we could afford for a huge job. I highly recommend him!"

"NYC Sewers helped us do hydro-excavation around utility lines in a new development project we did. We also hired them to clean and later maintain dry wells in our strip center that were flooding with heavy rains. Each time they were professional and knowledgeable and their prices were great compared to other companies we contacted."

Sewer Cleaning FAQs, answered by experts

It’ll take 20 to 30 minutes to unclog a sewer line using a drain snake or drain cleaner. If you hire a professional, you should expect them to be on-site for three hours or less. In addition to clearing the clog, they’ll do other routine inspections, which adds to the overall time (and cost) required.

Some flushable wipes companies say they are designed to disintegrate within a few hours to a few days after being flushed. These wipes allegedly use materials that are more water-soluble than traditional wipes. However, many experts have raised concerns that even so-called "flushable" wipes do not break down as easily as claimed and can contribute to clogs and blockages in sewer systems.

To prevent plumbing and sewer problems, avoid flushing wipes, even those labeled as flushable. Instead, dispose of them in the trash. This can help prevent costly plumbing issues and reduce the strain on wastewater treatment systems.

It can take anywhere from one month to a couple of years for tree roots to grow back in sewer lines. Tree roots can cause extreme havoc on your sewer lines, potentially cracking them and causing untreated wastewater to make its way into the groundwater. Have a landscaping pro remove trees and roots before installing your system, or call a pro to do it retroactively as soon as you can.

An active cleaning agent and a drain snake is the best way to clean a main sewer line. You can purchase a regular or enzyme drain cleaner or make a DIY drain cleaner with baking soda. Use your chosen solution at least once a month or as needed to keep your sewer line clear.

Unlike regular cleanings, snaking your sewer line should be done as needed. There’s no reason to snake your sewer line if you don’t have any noticeable issues, like slow drainage or plugged drains. You can add it to your regular sewer cleaning checklist as a prevention method (on the same 18- to 22-month schedule), but it’s not always necessary.
