"I researched and found Devon and his company were very well reviewed and he was great on the phone. We have a 1904 home with vermiculite and old batting for insulation in the attic. Devon came out to the house and was planning to do the removal of the old insulation but the vermiculite was determined to have asbestos, so we had everything in the attic remediated. Devon told me about the ZAI Trust and I was able to submit a claim for the abatement and reinsulation. Devon also discovered that a small roof off the kitchen/dining area was uninsulated as well as the dormer roof and the ensuite below it. We had to reschedule suddenly due to Mum being admitted to the ER, and Devon had no issue with this at all, and was very supportive. Devon and his team did an amazing job! What great people! They worked so hard and the spackling job to cover the holes was terrific. We just primed and painted. Devon will be back here to review the insulation status in the rest of the home, as the old foam insulation may need to be supplemented. I'd hire Go Go Green Insulation in a heartbeat and have already recommended them to a couple of neighbours. Old home, apt. or new build, these guys are the BEST!"

"It went well. Was $1,750 for taking out the insulation and putting the blown-in cellulose insulation in. They were quick and it only took them about 2 hours. The workers didn't know that the present insulation was to be taken out. It wasn't on the contract, but the salesperson should have communicated that to the workers. Once I explained that that is what the salesperson said would happen, they were OK with doing it. The company owner did not show up on the day of the project. Other than those 2 things, I think they did a good job."

"We had been living in our house for 5 years and although the kitchen was a new addition, every winter my wife & I had noticed how noticeably the temperature differentiated especially after the winter of 2014/15.  And because it was a dirt floor with some wood and old construction debris strewn about.  I was not so keen on staying down there.  In doing my own investigation there was some piping and insulation under floor.
So when investigating estimates we called a number of "green" companies.  Out of the three companies that came, only Frank Petrullo with Eco Green Solutions, noticed the mold and a water leak coming from fridge line.  He took the time to show me where the water was coming, how mold had proliferated on the wood floor joists and beams.  The dirt floor was somewhat moist and light was visible from outside along foundation rim contributing to the mold and moisture in crawl space.  He explained each of our options and detailed the steps in sections of each estimate.
We opted to have a plumber fix the water leak, then franks crew came in, cleaned up the mold, then layed down the crawl space membrane, finally insulating floor & rim joist.  All in under two days.  The crew showed up on time, left the open sections of the house clean, and we immediately noticed a difference in kitchen and rest of house.  Walking around bare foot in kitchen is more comfortable, the kitchen is less noisy, and house humidity is maintained.

"Joe did a great job on this, our dining room was a add on to connect the original home and the garage and had no insulation and boy in the winter it was unusable as well as the kitchen basically (the best part of the house). Joe came and drilled small holes in the attic floor that they sealed up later to allow for blowing in the insulation. And they cleaned up well. we have a 20 month old but there was nothing left over for the baby to put in her mouth. Joe is great! Our dining room is toasty and the kids can play in there year-round Plus they are were less than half of the expensive "efficiency" guys PSEG sent over. Those providers wanted to charge $10,000+ for basically the same job."

"Our roof and vinyl siding was getting old so we decided to pick the best contractors using Angie's list. We wanted to upgrade our vinyl siding to a sound proof insulated vinyl siding with an extra layer of foam insulation or similar material underneath. We also wanted extra insulation in the attic and 3 new windows.  Our goal was to block outside noise and save energy costs by using attic insulation of R30 or more.
We saw many contractors but all of them didn't understand our goal or didn't want to install a layer of foam insulation and insulated vinyl siding on top. Rich Koska, the owner of Dormer Doctor was the only contractor who listened to us, understood our plan, and gave us a fair price.
Rich always had his cell phone with him and answered to all our questions. He has many guys working for him, they were all polite and skillful. Our roof and attic insulation was ready in only one day, during that day, we counted about 15 workers working on site. Rich has a skillful worker called Rosendo, he completed the installation of the foam insulation panels, insulated vinyl siding, windows, light fixtures, and the gorgeous trims around windows, garage, and doors. I was able to explain what I wanted to Rosendo and he did a perfect job as you can see in the pictures. Rosendo is very attentive to details. The entire job took more time than what we expected but we were patient because we saw the workers attention to every detail during every phase of the job.
My husband and I wanted a quiet, energy efficient, sophisticated home, using quality materials; our dreams came true thanks to Dormer Doctor and his hardworking crew. I would recommend Dormer Doctor without hesitation.

"I called Topline to get an estimate. They arrived when they said they would, and Tom was very patient in explaining to me what we would need done and the options he had. When we decided to go ahead with it, they sent employees who worked very hard and almost nonstop for a day and half. The price we paid was excellent for the services provided. They completely cleaned up after themselves and now we have a beautiful new roof (we even got to choose the tiles we wanted). Would highly recommend."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Expect your home insulation project to take between five and 12 hours to complete on average for batts or boards and two to five hours for spray foam or blown-in insulation. It might take longer if you need to remove your home’s existing insulation, you have a higher-than-average square footage, or accessibility is limited.

Fiberglass is considered a favorite garage insulation choice due to its combination of affordability, ease of installation, and overall effectiveness. Fiberglass provides good thermal resistance, helping regulate garage temperatures and minimize heat transfer. Additionally, fiberglass is moisture-resistant, reducing the risk of mold or mildew formation.

Spray foam insulation can last between 80 and 100 years, depending on the type. Closed-cell spray foam is more durable, while open-cell foam is more susceptible to moisture damage and deterioration. It's important to consult a professional installer to understand which type of foam will be used and its specific longevity. Additionally, be aware that some spray foams can damage plastic piping, so if you have PVC or CPVC pipes, discuss this with your installer.

The heat loss through a poorly insulated attic when you’re running your furnace or heat pump during cold weather can be as high as 25%. This means you could see significantly higher energy costs to make up for this heat loss. The cost of adding insulation to the attic may eventually pay for itself through lower energy bills. If you decide to add a radiant barrier too, the radiant barrier cost may also pay for itself over time.

Excluding carpet, strand-woven bamboo provides excellent underfoot heat. Laminate flooring is also good for insulation and preventing cold feet in the winter. Bamboo tends to work better in climates that have more consistent temperatures, while laminate does a better job at insulating floors in homes that experience more extreme temperature changes, such as the deciduous climates of the northeastern U.S.
