Starting with setting up the free appointment, ending with the crew and quality of the work - they deliver a great experience and I highly recommend them for anything waterproofing, insulation, concrete and foundation fixes. "We have a building and it is so old that it never had insulation in the walls. The winters were very uncomfortable because of the cold that would come thru the walls. Sound from the apartment above carried like the person above was right next to you. I called Ecorite and made an appointment with Danielle to have an estimate. Uri was on time and took measurements then gave us a written estimate. Big wow for us since most of the time we are given a verbal one that keeps changing until a contract is written. We told Uri our issues and he made suggestions. He explained the products and how they use them. Closed and open cell materials and what walls they need to go on. Next was the actual installation. We had to make some changes and Danielle made sure the contract was updated and I approved the changes. She made sure everything ran smoothly. When the workers were on their way Danielle made sure I knew it. When the Kenneth and Lucas (the workers) arrived they were on time and greeted us then introduced themselves. They were friendly and pleasant and they made us feel comfortable with their knowledge of the product, and respectful of our home. They instructed us on how to reduce or eliminate any incontinence to the other tenants of the building. During the installation they worked non-stop, until they broke for lunch. After lunch break they were in a hurry to get back to work. There was no slowness here; if I had to use a word I would use quick€. After the job was done they cleaned up and took out the trash (which for us is a big thing). The entire job was a pleasant experience. I will be calling back for the next apartment. If not for Homeadvisor I would not have found such a good company. We are very happy."

"I found Score Construction on Home Advisor's website. I was looking for a contractor and needless to say I read reviews for many of the construction firms. Every review I read was terrific for Score Construction and because of that I called, met Janusz Z who is the Owner and was very impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. I started with 2 bathrooms that were necessary to do because of water damage. I was thrilled with the work done, the care of how it was done by the workers that were both professional and respectful. A year later a major renovation for my apartment was considered and I called Score Construction. Not only did the renovation to my apartment turn out fabulous and I'm happy every day that I wake up and see how beautiful it is, but they also did major work to the outside of our building - replacing the cornice, roof repair, pointing of bricks, structurally reinforcing all 16 windows which was no easy task for a 100 year old building, but they got it done. ALL this work again was done professionally and with the utmost of care and the knowledge of how to get the job done is their forte'. Every experience that I have had with Score Construction workers and owner, Janusz Z has been top notch. I recommend Score Construction HIGHLY. You will be extremely happy that you did so."

"They showed up exactly when they said they would. They were efficient, neat and made sure to send me pictures in the various stages of execution. And they cleaned up better than when they found the area. I would highly recommend them. I wish he did more than insulation because he would be my go-to guy for all house related needs."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

You do not always need to remove old insulation before adding new. If the existing insulation is in good condition—not wet, physically damaged, moldy, or infested with pests—you can add new insulation directly on top of it for a compounding effect. You can also mix different types, such as adding blown-in insulation around existing fiberglass batts.

However, removal is recommended if the old insulation is compromised by water damage or pests. You should also remove it if you plan to install a different type of insulation, like switching from roll or batt insulation to spray foam. If the existing insulation is very old or damaged, you will likely get more benefit from removing it and starting fresh.

While fiberglass is dangerous to work with, it’s a perfectly safe material once it’s installed. If you’re tackling the installation yourself, make sure you take the proper safety precautions and wear the right gear to avoid skin and eye irritation and lung complications. Working with a professional insulation company can mitigate these risks.

The cost to install or upgrade insulation generally ranges from $1.50 to $4.00 per square foot. The final price depends on factors such as the type of insulation chosen, the total area to be covered (home size), and local labor costs.

Insulating your basement walls offers numerous advantages that make the project well worth it. By adding insulation, you can reduce the chances of moisture damage to the house's structure and lower the odds of mold growth. You'll also add comfort to the space by reducing temperature swings and increasing your home's energy efficiency, potentially reducing your energy bills to earn your investment back.

R-30 insulation is better for higher thermal resistance, but whether it’s "better" depends on the application. R-30 is much thicker and suited for areas like attics or floors in cold climates, where more insulation is required. R-13, on the other hand, is thinner and works well for 2x4 walls or milder climates where less insulation is sufficient. Choosing between R-13 and R-30 depends on the area being insulated and the climate. For example, R-30 provides more insulation but may not fit everywhere in your home.
