"Dave called and showed up when expected. He analyzed the problem and explained the fix. We have one bathroom and a barely functioning toilet is not something we could put up with. Dave rebuilt the toilet and fixed the problem. It was a good turn key operation. It was pricey and if rated as a separate element price would be B. Overall pleased with workmanship and parts used. Would hire again."

"Two plumbers worked to replace a leaking toilet. I put an inquiry out on Angieâ s list and heard back within a few minutes. Was pleasantly surprised that they had completed a job and were able to fit me into their schedule. Both men were very courteous, showed me each step of the process so I understood the nature of the repair. Did excellent work, cleaned up after project was done. Would call Boss for future projects in a heartbeat!"

"Sal and his team are very patient. My husband and I had lots of questions and they answered them all. The day of installation my inlaws were over (they are thinking about redoing their kitchen and wanted to see granite samples etc) and even though it was very chaotic in the house, Sal and his assistant worked to install the granite and we could not be more pleased.
We bought the kitchen and bath sinks from Sal too and thought the price was reasonable
since we only had 30sq of countertops, he let us use the remaining amount for the bathroom, we just had to pay an extra $75 for them to cut the sink hole. Also, we were able to pick a different color granite for the bathroom which I was very happy we were given the opportunity to do that.
Only suggestion is that they send out google reminders for the appointments, and each time was different than agreed upon either by phone or e-mail which made it a little confusing to know when they would show up - the appointment time in google or the one made prior. A small inconvenience but worth it.
Thank you!

"I purchased the toilet and they installed it. They did an awesome job, even letting me know I needed additional work underneath to hold new toilet adequately (a new stainless flange was installed to the existing floor). They were right and showed me. I appreciate that. If a job is going to be done, it should be done right the first time. When everything was done, I was proud of how it looked. Wow! I should have had all new toilets installed."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

The average cost to replace a toilet seal ring is around $50 to $200 if you hire a pro to do the job. If you do it yourself, you’ll only need to pay for the supplies. Wax rings alone cost anywhere from $5 to $25 at hardware stores and can save you a lot of money compared to having a professional installation. At the same time, a licensed plumber knows how to properly install your new wax ring to prevent premature issues down the line.

It is okay to use a drain auger on a toilet, just make sure you are using the correct tip size. The auger is a plumbing snake with a protective sleeve to protect the porcelain toilet bowl from getting scratched. Using too large of an auger can cause the snake to loop back and damage the inside of the drain and plumbing.

If you experience the telltale sign of wax ring failure, which is leaking water, replacing the faulty ring takes one to three hours, depending on accessibility. This is an exacting and time-consuming job, as several components must be removed for the plumber to access the ring. Once replaced, however, wax rings require little to no maintenance and last 30 years or longer.

Yes, you should screw your flange to the subfloor, including cement. The best way to get this done is to predrill holes into the concrete using a hammer drill and a ¼-inch concrete bit. Be careful when you’re ready to bolt your flange down, as you can accidentally crack it. You can avoid this issue by not installing the screws too deep. Or, you can opt for a flange with a stainless steel ring so you don’t have to worry about cracking the plastic.

Many homeowners stress about cleaning before an emergency plumber arrives, but you’re far better off doing the following while you wait for your plumber to get to your home:

  • Shut the water off at your water main if you have a leak or a burst pipe

  • Avoid using any water fixtures in your home, including appliances

  • Clear a path to the problem area so that it’s easily accessible

  • Consider shutting your breaker if you’re concerned that the leak may affect your electrical system
