"We are extremely pleased with the work Gary has done on our kitchen cabinets. He is highly knowledgeable about the process and answered all of our many questions. He was very punctual, professional and honestly priced. Our cabinets were original to the house (20 years) and were an oak color, needing an upgrade. We asked Gary to paint them white to give the kitchen a more open feel. He allowed us to pick the exact color we wanted and he took care of purchasing the products. We will absolutely be calling Gary for our next painting project! No money was required upfront and he followed through even once completed ensuring we were 100% pleased with the end results."

"They did a fabulous job. They were very professional, they did high quality work, they were punctual and they knew how to paint, they've prep the house and did caulking work to prepare the house for painting. We've used 3 different colors of paint, and the outcome was fabulous and we couldn't ask for more. They did a very intricate work and the house looks a million dollar house after the work was completed, and we got lots of complements about their work. They also did the concrete foundation and the color for it. We highly recommend the company to anyone."

"We hired Parlor City to do a re-do of our main living area. It included redoing all the drywall, painting, applying shiplap on a feature wall and constructing 2 large beams for the ceiling. We're very happy with the finished product, especially with the wooden beams. All of the workers were attentive to details and to our wishes, especially the carpenter, Chris, who is a fine craftsman. The only issue we had was that due to some scheduling problems, the project went on a little longer than expected. We would definitely hire Parlor City for any jobs in the future!"

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can cover a popcorn ceiling, which is often more cost-effective and easier than scraping it off. Common methods include using ceiling-grade drywall, applying a skim coat, or installing beadboard panels to create a smooth, updated finish. Covering the ceiling can also protect you from asbestos exposure if the material contains it. However, it's important to note that this method only seals off the asbestos and does not eliminate it, which could be a concern for future renovations or home resale. If you suspect your ceiling contains asbestos, it's best to hire a local asbestos abatement company to test the material and manage its safe removal.

Professionals handle heavy lifting, proper disposal, and recycling, reducing environmental impact.

The timeline varies from a few hours to two days, depending on room size, texture complexity, and removal difficulty.

Older textures may contain asbestos, requiring careful handling and professional inspection before work begins to ensure safety compliance.

No, not all popcorn ceilings have asbestos, but a vast majority do. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned its use in 1973, although it still may have been used up through the early ‘90s. But, in general, homes built or remodeled before the early ‘80s likely utilized materials with asbestos. That being said, a professional test is the only way to determine for sure.
