Customers say: True professional

"Arthur gave us a fair and competitive estimate and was able to start work quickly thereafter. He and his team did an excellent job gutting and totally remodeling two bathrooms and a closet as well as redoing some of the wood flooring, moving vents, and moving hallways. Arthur himself was at the home everyday and did the important work himself. He also went the extra mile in helping us with small projects around the major project as they came up. He was extremely responsive in provided us with timely updates. When complications occurred (due to the house having not been renovated in 40 years) he was clear and helpful in keeping the project on schedule. He was extremely honest and I trusted him to be alone in my house for weeks on end with his team. I would/plan to work with Arthur again in the future for my home renovation projects."

"Classic Construction was the last of 4 estimates I was getting for various work we wanted done. Frank spent close to two hours with us that night going over everything. He was the ONLY person to make suggestions to us that actually made more sense. Frank was at my home when he said he'd be & didn't leave until whatever he was working on was done & everything was cleaned up. I would absolutely recommend Classic Construction.....Frank does beautiful work & he's a really, really nice guy!!"

"Romeo performed an emergency roof repair and dealt with the problem to it's conclusion. He is a man of his word. I subsequently hired him to do brickwork on my home. Both jobs were done professionally to my satisfaction. I recommend Romeo."

"Once we hired Kentstruction to do our job, Kent told us he would start in 4 weeks and that's exactly when they came. The job was done quickly and efficiently. Kent and his brother Eban were so helpful when it came to making decisions on products and designs. They were always timely and professional and the work they did was excellent. We will hire them again for our next home improvement,."

"I was very impressed with John's knowledge of Carpentry, he had to come up with a solution to replace my linen closet door which was old and did not function anymore , this door could not be purchased at Home Depot etc., John takes pride in his work and I was very happy with the finished product even though it took several months ... John always responded by text to keep me updated about my custom door (back ordered) .. I definitely recommend him .. and will have him back to do other projects for me."

"Wonderfully. The Al-Arsh crew is always reliable, prompt, professional and highly-skilled. Their work is always done exceptionally well and the owner, Malik, always makes sure it is finished to perfection. Even when we needed something tweaked or if plans changed after they finished, they come and do whatever is needed when needed, cheerfully. Their prices are more than fair and they guarantee their work. We have had Al-Arsh do work for us over the years totaling at least $250K and we ALWAYS chose them."

Custom Home Builders FAQs, answered by experts

Modular homes last an average of between 50 and 75 years, and high-quality modular homes can last for 100 years with proper maintenance. For comparison, a standard home lasts 50 to 100 years and can push to 150 or longer with good maintenance. Modular homes provide better long-term value in that they are significantly more affordable and can last almost as long, but some buyers are wary of modular home longevity, so the actual value if you sell could be lower.

If you want to make your home eco-friendly, enjoy low maintenance, and love the fact that its looks will take people’s breath away (and not because they were trying to blow your house down), then a modern brick home is right for you. You can hire a mason to get the building process started for your brick home.

But if you’re not fond of the color and don’t want to deal with the process of repointing or other repairs, consider going with vinyl or wood. These materials offer a lower cost. While they tend to require more maintenance, they don’t cost nearly the same as exterior brick house repair.

Yes, a home builder or contractor should have the proper licensing and insurance. Licensing requirements vary by state and municipality, but most states mandate that a builder holds at least a general contractor’s license. For specialized work such as plumbing, electrical, roofing, or sewage systems, individual licenses may be required, in which case the builder may subcontract the work. You can use Angi’s state licensing tool to review your local guidelines and confirm a builder's credentials. As you browse professionals, you can also look for the “Angi Certified” badge. This indicates the business meets our certification standards, which include passing a criminal background check, holding applicable state and local licenses, and maintaining an average rating of 3.0 or better.

The average cost to build a modular home is around $270,000, and most modular homes total between $180,000 and $360,000. Of course, this price varies significantly by location, and the price tends to follow the cost of living in the area. There are quite a few other factors at play that can affect your pricing, including the following:

  • Number of bedrooms and bathrooms

  • Site preparation, including land clearing and leveling

  • Type of foundation

  • Utility connections

  • Cost of building permits

Modular homes are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and faster to build than traditional homes. They also offer customizable designs.
