"Slower than expected; due to rain and storms. Normally a crew of 4 experienced painters showed up at 9 am and often stayed until 5:30 or 6 pm. They laid tarps everywhere and were respectful to our neighbors. Excellent detail and trim work. They stored all equipment and replaced deck furniture daily. Excellent crew. Quiet and efficient."

"After reading many positive reviews on Angieslist I used the site to reach out to the company. Michael contacted me within the hour. He was patient and professional. He allowed me to send him pictures of the ceiling tiles I was concerned about and offered his expertise and explained my options without any consultation fee. I would highly recommend"

"The work was horrible. He does not even check the work of his workers, if you call back to ask him to come over he totally ignores your calls. Probably the worst painting I have ever seen. They did not prep, just painted over things that needed to be sanded and then got paint on furniture, new vanities, new cabinets and he has refused four times to correct it and will not return calls. Other professionals were shocked with what a mess it is. Do NOT hire him."

"one of the worst experiences of my life. I hired Jim and his crew to completed a outside house cleaning, gutter cleaning ect. Part of my $600 verbal contract was tree trimming of overhanging branches over the house. When he was here I also asked him if his crew would trim my smoke bush down. Instead of trimming the smoke bush they proceeded to completely destroy my beautiful birch tree that we have enjoyed for 23 years, killing it. I was working in my office before I realized what was happening but it was too late. My wife was in tears when she saw what they had done, watching the birds flying around confused was heartbreaking. Jim was initially upset his crew but then lashed out at me in frustration. It was truly unreal. he that I was trying to "screw him over" He called me condesending later never truly apologizing not once! ... He never offered to plant another tree or anything just told me that I told his crew to day that, funny because he was there when I told them to trim the smoke bush.. He wanted to fix it by decreasing the cost, but I told him to just go ahead and cash the original check which he did of course. $200 would not replace the damage that they did, the money was irrelevant. probably the worst experience I have ever had in any business transaction. BE AWARE"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Aftercare includes routine cleaning, checking for water repellency, and promptly addressing any chips or peels, maintaining the deck's appearance and functionality.

The best exterior paint for the job of painting your front porch depends on the material you’ll be painting. Acrylic paint is often recommended for a wooden porch as it’s durable and easy to apply. If your porch is made of concrete, you’ll need to find a formula suited to that material.

You’ll want to avoid excessively hot or humid conditions, so it’s best to apply your stain in late spring to early fall. It's also important to watch the weather forecast and aim for days when there isn’t rain expected for at least three days. For new decks, allow the wood to season beforehand for at least four to eight weeks.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 formula or painting over an existing coat of paint, it pays to apply a coat of primer ahead of your new paint. Decks see a lot of footfall and exposure to extreme and sudden temperature changes and moisture levels. The primer promotes better paint adhesion, moisture repellency, and a smoother finish, which means you’ll often need fewer coats of paint.
