"Paul and his crew demolished our old concrete steps and replaced it with new brick steps. We were so happy with the craftsmanship and quality we hired them back a few weeks later to build a brick landscaping wall across the front of our house. Paul was great to work with and communicated with us throughout both jobs. His responsiveness was very much appreciated. One small thing: a few days after the wall job was done we noticed concrete splatter stuck to the siding. Unfortunately by the time we noticed it, it had already dried. We tried to chip it off but were unsuccessful so we had to touch up a few areas of our siding with fresh paint. Other than that, we felt the work was phenomenal and we’d definitely hire Paul back again. Highly recommend!"

"After my Father's unexpected passing, my Mom has been left with all the house duties that her used to take care of for her. I decided to find a service to help for the winter with snow removal and I couldn't be happier with these guys. Every time it snows they come out to clear the snow automatically and they do a great job. I plan to have them help this summer with lawn mowing also."

"Jerry did an amazing job trimming a very tall tree in my backyard. The tree was located behind my garage, so he had to climb it. I'd recommend his services to anyone looking for this line of work."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

As with anything you do near your foundation, you’ll want to ensure proper drainage when you plant your foundation beds. Your drainage should run downhill from the highest point against your foundation to avoid water intrusion and incurring expensive foundation repair costs.

You should plant trees at least 15 to 20 feet away from your house, and more if the tree will grow large and spread its limbs. Trees pose several dangers to houses when planted too close. They can litter the roof with leaves and branches, create fire hazards, make a ladder for larger pests, and even damage the foundation as their roots grow.

The cost to plant a small tree or sapling is between $100 and $300 on average, if you hire a professional. Big trees will cost more and usually require the work of a specialist, so expect to pay over $1,000 for those.

The best size rock for your landscaping depends on the design, as different boulders serve different purposes. If you want to group boulders to create a natural-looking cluster, you’ll need a range of sizes. Otherwise, here are some suggestions:

  • Small boulders (smaller than 12 inches across): Best for landscape edging and fire pits

  • Medium boulders (12–24 inches): Best for retaining walls and water features

  • Large boulders (more than 24 inches): Best as standalone landscaping features, steps, or walkways.

Of course, you can mix and match sizes to create a unique display.

Buying plants from a nursery is one thing, but ensuring that they are properly planted is another. While you might not need to hire a landscaper for every plant that you buy from a nursery, it’s a great idea to have their expertise and experience to plant larger items, like burlapped trees or specialty plants like rose bushes. Even better, before making a trip to a nursery to buy new plants, consult a local landscaper to test your soil for pH levels, soil texture, and phosphorus and potassium levels to help determine the best plants for your area.
