I told them over the phone that maybe the rear socks or struts where bottoming out because we kept hearing noise from the back of car going over bumps. I also told them my brother was driving the car and he thought the brakes weren't working right. I also told them that the front right rim might need to be replaced, because the tires are almost new and it keeps leaking air even though we had to replace the air sensors and steams on the wheel because they kept failing when my Ma took it to the dealer they told her she needs a new rim or the old one repaired. I told them my Ma has mechanical breakdown insurance from Geico and they would have to get an OK threw them before repairs could start, but to give the whole car a going over to find anything wrong. Nick told me that sometimes they don't cover everything. I said fine, but if it needs to be fixed I want to know about it. Thursday night comes and me an my brother take my mothers car over. Even though I have an appointment for friday I fill out one of the envelopes provided at the night drop slot with info we talked about. Friday afternoon I get a call from Geico and they have Nick on the line also they go over what is covered, and Geico tells me the Rim isn't covered under mechanical breakdown coverage, but could be covered under comprehensive, I would have to call that department about that. Geico then tells me the car needs right rear wheel bearings, two new rotors in back, and new rear brake pads, the cost for the brake pads aren't covered, but the labor to replace the rotors and bearings, and the cost of the parts are covered and there will be only one deductible of $250. I'm surprised that there is only one deductible. I am also wondering to myself how did the rear brakes go before the fronts?(Fronts do 75% of the work and always go first). I also wonder why do the rotors need to be replaced? Me, and my other brother replaced all the brake pads and rotors last summer when he was up for a visit? At most they need to be turned? The Geico rep tells me he's done and puts me on with Nick and hangs up himself. Nick goes over the same stuff as Geico tells me the pads aren't covered. I say ok but there shouldn't be a charge for labor on the pads because to replace the rotors and the bearing you have to remove the brake pads(yeah I forgot that it takes about 5 minutes a side to turn the piston of the rear calipers back in with a tool, but I'm not going to pay for a third dip on labor) he tells me there will be a $60 charge for the pads, and doesn't argue about the labor. It's $20 more than the best pads at the auto parts store, but I don't argue because he didn't try to add more labor. I do notice on the invoice though, there is a question mark next to labor for pads and rotors, which to me is a dig at me, it should only list labor for the rotors and the double dip for the bearings both which look to be charged at full book rate to me. Whoever wrote it up could have listed the labor for the pads as no charge, or included in other parts installed labor. back to the topic at hand, Nick tells me he needs to wait for parts, so it will probably be Monday before he gets it done. This even though I had an appointment and they are open saturdays, same as every other time. I tell him to go ahead since it will only be $250 plus $60 and tax out of our pockets. Monday at 4pm I call them and the cars done. I give the woman a credit card number over the phone to pay them. I tell her to lock the keys in the car, because I have learned the hard way that they are only open to 5PM on weekdays. If you work Days for a living, like my brother, who I need to help me pick up the car there no way to get down there before 5PM and every other shop in a 50 mile radius is at least open to 6pm, so you assume that they are too, but we found out the hard way trying to pick his car up in the past this is not so. Highly inconvenient! About 4 days ago on 3/11 my mother complained to me about the noise the brakes make when backing up for some reason they are really load from the right rear. I told her brakes make noise sometimes when applied, but she keeps insisting I take it back to them. So I went to the back wheels and took a look at them. To me the rotors look to old, and worn and the pads look to worn to be a month and a week old. So I am wondering to myself. Did they even replace the parts? Or are the calipers frozen and they miss this? Don't get me wrong they don't look dangerous to drive or worn out. If they weren't replaced the only person to blame is myself, because I usually check returned old parts on the key envelope, which they never return here for some reason, but every other repair on my brothers car I saw the problem with my own eyes and checked the repairs the same day I picked the car up, so I didn't say anything. This time I didn't see the problem or check the work when picking up the car. My bad! Seriously Nicks a pillar of the community. He's the disaster coordinator for the Village of Gowanda, so I don't think not doing the work and charging for it is something he would do! Heres the low down at $69 an hour book rate, they are $9 more an hour than most places. Also, it always takes 3 days or more to get the work done on your car. They aren't open past 5PM on weekdays and noon on saturdays. Inconvenient. For some reason most times the bill is never under $325.00 for work done on your car, even when in my opinion it should be lower. The only exception we've had is NYS Inspections. They give you free estimates. They give you a 12 month, 12k mile warranty on their repairs.(Their website states 24 month 24k miles though) They are a BBB member. About their warranty, after they replaced the steering rack on my brothers car we had to return to shop with his car at least 3 or four times because house to it kept loosening and leaking where it went into the rack and we didn't pay a dime until the last time when they said the engine mount was broken causing the engine to shift, moving the hose, and loosening it. It hasn't leaked since, so that must have been it. One more thing they do have roadside service and towing and do it for the AAA and Verizon. One last thing, they have started working on repairs before getting the ok from me on the phone as to the price twice in the past. Nick said he couldn't get a hold of me on my cell phone. I didn't complain, but this has never happened anyplace else. The main reason I go here is for the free estimates and the warranty and it's less than half a mile away. We originally called Jim at Man of Steel along with about 25 other roofing contractors about repairing the roof on a 2.5 story garage built in 1910 . Out of 25 roofing contractors, only five ended up giving estimates. Some contractors didn't bother to call back, and others refused to come out and give a estimate unless the home owner my sister who lives in another state was there for the estimate.(Companies that use high pressures sales tactics and want to close the deal the first time out, don't want to shoot one legged, and insist all home owners be there for the estimates). The original estimates ran from 5k to 12k, and Jims was for 5k, but I noticed, only after another contractor came out and bid that Jims bid didn't include the missing or rotted soffit, trim, and fascia that one other contractor had listed as optional. Jim's estimate was very specific in what it included, but I assumed that he quoted the whole job, and that should of included the soffit, trim, and fascia. Since Jim was the first to respond, and had the lowest bid, and also provided references along with his estimate, I decided to call him back out, and re-estimate the job to include what was missing. I also added the window at the 2.5 story high peak on the garage front which was broken to the order. Jim also under estimated the rafters that needed to be replaced by 3 in both estimates. That was tacked on to the bill during the job. Jim added a 3 percent charge for using a credit card option which wasn't on the first estimate either when I told him my sister wanted to use a credit card to pay. A couple of things that perturbed me, but since I noticed that the other estimates, except the one that stated the soffit, and trim was optional didn't include the work either, I over looked these irritants. I don't know how you replace the roofing without repairing the missing soffit, and trim, you can skip the fascia because the roof doesn't lay on it ,but it's only common sense to estimate it all for a complete roofing job! Anyways the total for the job when completed came out to about 400 bucks under the next estimate if I included the optional replace the soffit trim and fascia in what was in there estimate. My sister gave me the option on which of the two companies to pick for the job, and I decided on Jim. The only demand my sister had was we needed a certificate of insurance before we signed the agreement! Jim had produced a copy of his insurance policy, but that doesn't prove that it is in effect. I called Jim, and he gave me the new estimate on November 3 2014, and we though the work would start the last week of November, but different circumstances, weather, and Jim finishing another Job delayed the start. Jim also had to wait for his insurance provider to send him a certificate of insurance threw the mail. All this delayed everything. We signed the agreement to start work on December 12,2014, and Jim started the work the following weekend. He completed about 2/3's of the work in December. The weather prevented him from finishing the rest until near the end of January 2015. The Metal roofing looks great, but I noticed that they didn't stager the replaced fascia boards. While on the under side of the roof, this looks astatically unpleasing to me They also failed to replace a couple of 1"X 12" boards under the Metal Roof that I would have replaced if I did the job myself, not rotted, but pieces fell off them when they removed the old roofing materials leaving gaps between them which looks astatically unpleasing to me from the inside of garage's second floor. But I still give them an A on quality, because there is no A-.

We had 6 wooden dining room chairs which were my grandmother's (so at least 60 years old, as she died at 90ish); wooden backs, seats worn through and what appeared to be kapok stuffing falling out here and there. Not particularly good quality chairs I don't think, but of sentimental value to me. We also had another, nonmatching wooden chair which I wanted reupholstered in a matching fabric. All had dings and scratches and occasional loose joints, and we had put sticky felt on the bottoms of the legs to avoid scratching our dining room floor. I telephoned to ask if he could do the job, phone was answered promptly and pleasantly by Mr. Hayden himself, appt made for us to bring chairs to him the following day (a Saturday in early June 2013). I did not have upholstery cloth picked out, he said fine to get it elsewhere (he could tell us how much needed after seeing chairs) or he had some we could look at. Address he wanted chairs brought to was different from that listed as Havenhouse Upholstery on Google (it appears on Google as Havenhouse all one word); appeared to be his home when we got there. He had a furniture-filled workshop in his back garage which is where we dropped off the chairs; he had about a dozen different rolls of upholstery cloth of different patterns/fabrics in the back of his minivan and we chose one we liked from that selection (I am perfectly happy with what we chose, but do not consider myself a picky shopper in matters of style -- durability and stain resistance more important as we have kids, and he recommended some of what he brought as more durable than other fabrics, we chose from those). Estimate was $575 for reseating/upholstery/stain guarding and $200 for repairs to chairs (he said refinishing was not recommended for chairs like these, and that was not our focus anyway), paid by check $250 deposit. He said it would take several weeks. Late June I called to check and let him know we would be unreachable for a week, he said he was almost done. As arranged he called me after we returned to arrange pickup, appt made for next day. He stated repairs had been more extensive than estimated and would be an extra $75 (I made no quibbles). Place to pick up was another different address. I had to call to confirm address twice (trouble entering into GPS) but each time Mr. Hayden answered right away himself and was immediately helpful. and quot;Haven House Upholsteryand quot; or similar not seen on signage of building at that address when I arrived so I phoned; he drove to where I was (took 1 minute) and led me back to a storage unit containing a workspace and lots of furniture including our chairs. He helped me load up and I paid remainder by check to him personally, receiving receipt with both Haven House Upholstery and his name at the top which lays out work done nicely but does not include tax line (I have to assume sales tax was included in the price). Quality of the work: seats look great, very comfortable to sit on with good firm/soft balance for both me (short and fat) and husband (tall and thin), fabric fits tightly and is beautifully folded over corners and evenly trimmed underneath, a lot better than the original seats even before they wore through. The fabric we chose had a herringbone pattern which would show minor faults in alignment easily and this was perfectly aligned on each chair. Wood had greatly diminished ding/scratch appearance, still present (as expected) but have to look a lot harder to find them. Joints very stable now, no leaked glue visible (if he used glue; I didn't ask how he made repairs). Unasked, he had replaced the sticky felt pads under each chairleg with the same color and thickness we had used. Overall, I am very pleased with the work quality. Timing and what would and could not be done was all accurately explained in words I could understand. Cost was a bit more than original estimate but I believe the chairs deserved this as he hadn't tested the joints a lot before making his estimate, and this is not a visible problem. I had expected more of a storefront experience given the name and quot;Havenhouse Upholsteryand quot; but reaching and dealing with Mr. Hayden was easy at all times. My only concern is the lack of evidence of having paid sales tax on the receipt, which I did not notice until I got home. I would use him again if needed; he seems to be a real craftsman who cares about quality and that is well worth putting up with a slightly less-than-slick business demeanor. I purchased an Angie's List Deal last year. On the initial visit, it turned out that our HVAC unit was in too small of a space for them to get their equipment in (it's located inside our small storage unit in the basement). They let me know that they could do the work, but that they would...

FAQs for basement leak repair projects in Gowanda, NY
The cost to finish a basement is $18,400 for the average homeowner. However, this cost could be as little as $2,800 or as much as $34,500, depending on the basement size and the materials needed. If your basement is already outfitted with electrical and plumbing, expect the cost to fall on the lower end.
For example, the drywall cost for this project averages around $1,750, but other features, like hiring a plumber, cost between $45 and $200 per hour.
The cost to remodel a basement is between $12,100 and $33,400 for the average homeowner. The price you pay can be as little as $3,500 or as much as $50,200, depending on the size and condition of your basement and the type of remodel you're doing.
If you're doing a simple project like adding a home office to your basement, you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $3,000. However, if you're adding a bathroom, which is an extensive project, you can expect to pay between $6,600 to $16,500.
Damp proofing and waterproofing are both methods to help keep your basement dry. Damp proofing keeps soil moisture from entering your basement, which is helpful since your basement is underground. Waterproofing, however, keeps both soil moisture and liquid water out of the basement, which is essential, especially if you live in a wet environment. Because it’s more protective, waterproofing typically costs more than damp proofing.
Although homeowners often use the terms basement remodeling and basement finishing interchangeably, they are quite different terms.
Finishing a basement is the process of taking a basement space that is not habitable and adding elements to make it usable. This includes adding plumbing, flooring, and insulation.
Remodeling a basement means taking an already existing finished basement and changing it, often by adding or removing walls, adding plumbing, or changing the existing flooring.
The cost of basement waterproofing is $4,950 for the average homeowner. However, you could end up paying between $600 and $14,000, depending on factors like basement size, waterproofing method, and the region you live in.
If you live in an area with heavy rainfall, you might be paying more for waterproofing than if you lived somewhere drier since waterproofing contractors would be in high demand. Likewise, a 500-foot basement costs between $2,500and $5,000 to waterproof, but that price rises significantly for a larger basement.
