Walls, ceiling and floor demolished. Moved a pipe to inside a wall and dropped the ceiling to even it up with old tub enclosure. He did replace 3 ceiling light fixtures for me in kitchen and hall as an extra. Then the problems began. He would show up for a few hours here and there and bring in workers and leave. Mistake after mistake began. Hole for recessed medicine cabinet cut too big and taping of sheetrock kept bubbling. (Humidity didn't help and it took 3 days to dry) Painting done and sub floor laid. Cut wrong so that it scratched the newly painted walls. Recut and repaint. He had suggested painting an old door that was on bathroom and I said ok. When painted, however, it looked awful. Big split in wood that could not be repaired. I suggested a new door. Seems to me he should have suggested it. He made a comment that a new door was not in the price he quoted but he did it anyway. Wood is split where he put in doorknob and it is hung crookedly. The moulding around the door wasn't cut correctly and so it is split and sits about an 1/8 of an inch away from the wall. Came on 15th day and said he was finishing that day. I had to watch his worker and catch mistakes - some I didn't until too late. The tile was cut wrong on last line of floor so that tile does not match up evenly. As grouting started, I noticed the color was not right. Contractor had mixed the grout and neglected to mix in the colors. The end result of rushing through on one day was shoddy work. Taped areas of sheetrock bubbling, brushstrokes seen in painting, towel and toilet paper bars slanted (I told him before he left but did not fix it), trim cut wrong around window and put on BACKWARDS! , left a piece of old tile sticking out from under tub surround, garbage thrown out window and left on lawn and in plants, sawdust all over plants and garage, grout uneven in spots, paint from trim left on wall and light fixture, damage to trim, floor tiled unevenly, and so on. Told the job would be perfect, it is far from it. No respect for my home. Said my home was cursed! Paint on screen door and marks on porch steps. Everything in every room covered in dust and dirt. He even painted over old wood sashes and door trim without sanding. There must be 10 layers of paint on these pieces and you can see chipping underneath. I would expect a contractor to bring something like that to my attention and tell me that we really should change that trim. Add a few bucks to the price and make it perfect as he said it would be. As days go by I find more and more problems - simple things like toilet bowl seat being loose and pull up plunger in sink coming apart. He rushed this job through on his last day here and made mistakes over and over again. Kept getting annoyed when I pointed out things that weren't right. I got an estimate from someone to redo his work and fix his mistakes. I sent him a letter with the estimate of $1100.00 and photos. I asked for a refund of $2000.00 because the estimate did not include rehanging door, re grouting, replacing door mouldings , repainting the hallway where paint was chipped by his equipment, cleaning up the debris left behind and replacing the screen in my door that has the paint on it. I asked for him to respond.
It has been 15 days since he received my packet (according to USPS delivery confirmation services) and I have not heard a word from him. What a way to treat a customer. Such a shame. Will have to persue this further.

They also maintain the lawn at my lake home, and have installed a new parking pad and gutter screens for me.
The owner, Philip Allen, is personable, easy to reach, honest and caring. He checks on my house regularly and calls if he finds a problem. I'm extremely pleased with the service I get from ABC, and highly recommend them.

We had 6 wooden dining room chairs which were my grandmother's (so at least 60 years old, as she died at 90ish); wooden backs, seats worn through and what appeared to be kapok stuffing falling out here and there. Not particularly good quality chairs I don't think, but of sentimental value to me. We also had another, nonmatching wooden chair which I wanted reupholstered in a matching fabric. All had dings and scratches and occasional loose joints, and we had put sticky felt on the bottoms of the legs to avoid scratching our dining room floor. I telephoned to ask if he could do the job, phone was answered promptly and pleasantly by Mr. Hayden himself, appt made for us to bring chairs to him the following day (a Saturday in early June 2013). I did not have upholstery cloth picked out, he said fine to get it elsewhere (he could tell us how much needed after seeing chairs) or he had some we could look at. Address he wanted chairs brought to was different from that listed as Havenhouse Upholstery on Google (it appears on Google as Havenhouse all one word); appeared to be his home when we got there. He had a furniture-filled workshop in his back garage which is where we dropped off the chairs; he had about a dozen different rolls of upholstery cloth of different patterns/fabrics in the back of his minivan and we chose one we liked from that selection (I am perfectly happy with what we chose, but do not consider myself a picky shopper in matters of style -- durability and stain resistance more important as we have kids, and he recommended some of what he brought as more durable than other fabrics, we chose from those). Estimate was $575 for reseating/upholstery/stain guarding and $200 for repairs to chairs (he said refinishing was not recommended for chairs like these, and that was not our focus anyway), paid by check $250 deposit. He said it would take several weeks. Late June I called to check and let him know we would be unreachable for a week, he said he was almost done. As arranged he called me after we returned to arrange pickup, appt made for next day. He stated repairs had been more extensive than estimated and would be an extra $75 (I made no quibbles). Place to pick up was another different address. I had to call to confirm address twice (trouble entering into GPS) but each time Mr. Hayden answered right away himself and was immediately helpful. and quot;Haven House Upholsteryand quot; or similar not seen on signage of building at that address when I arrived so I phoned; he drove to where I was (took 1 minute) and led me back to a storage unit containing a workspace and lots of furniture including our chairs. He helped me load up and I paid remainder by check to him personally, receiving receipt with both Haven House Upholstery and his name at the top which lays out work done nicely but does not include tax line (I have to assume sales tax was included in the price). Quality of the work: seats look great, very comfortable to sit on with good firm/soft balance for both me (short and fat) and husband (tall and thin), fabric fits tightly and is beautifully folded over corners and evenly trimmed underneath, a lot better than the original seats even before they wore through. The fabric we chose had a herringbone pattern which would show minor faults in alignment easily and this was perfectly aligned on each chair. Wood had greatly diminished ding/scratch appearance, still present (as expected) but have to look a lot harder to find them. Joints very stable now, no leaked glue visible (if he used glue; I didn't ask how he made repairs). Unasked, he had replaced the sticky felt pads under each chairleg with the same color and thickness we had used. Overall, I am very pleased with the work quality. Timing and what would and could not be done was all accurately explained in words I could understand. Cost was a bit more than original estimate but I believe the chairs deserved this as he hadn't tested the joints a lot before making his estimate, and this is not a visible problem. I had expected more of a storefront experience given the name and quot;Havenhouse Upholsteryand quot; but reaching and dealing with Mr. Hayden was easy at all times. My only concern is the lack of evidence of having paid sales tax on the receipt, which I did not notice until I got home. I would use him again if needed; he seems to be a real craftsman who cares about quality and that is well worth putting up with a slightly less-than-slick business demeanor. Check with local lawn care companies to confirm that they offer the services you’re looking for.
The average cost to mow a lawn is about $125, ranging between $50 and $200 per cutting, depending on yard size. Other cost factors include the shape of your lawn, accessibility, lawn health, type of grass, length of grass, and frequency of the mowing schedule. The cost to cut your grass will also vary depending on where you live. If your landscaper has to maneuver around obstacles or deal with hard to reach areas and steep slopes, this will likely increase your total mowing costs.
Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:
Location
Yard size
Project size
Materials
Land preparation
Type of landscaping
Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000.
