My wife's computer died and I had sent to a repair group BEFORE I knew about New York Computer Help. They left it in a mess and I didnt touch it for a year. Finally my wife insisted I get it fixed and having then had a GREAT experience with New York Computer Help after, they were able to recover ALL the needed files and transfer to her new computer. I then required some additional assistance with file structure and while not part of our service, they did it for me. I am SO GLAD I put all 3 computer systems under their service contract. They are fast, reliable and reasonable. I would give them 6 stars if an option.

I called and described the problem (without mentioning what I suspected) and the technician diagnosed it over the phone as just what I had thought, and quoted a price to replace the power supply. Since it was too heavy for me to bring to the shop, he offered courier service both ways for a reasonable fee. I called at 3 PM on Monday, the courier came within an hour and I heard from the shop in a little more than two hours; the problem was as suspected, the part would be replaced for the price quoted and returned to me the next morning, which happened, exactly as promised. No extra charge for the diagnosis and labor. Excellent, courteous and professional service.

Work done while I waited.  Screen was replaced and looked like a new iPhone.  Work done with quality.  I addition, my phone had dents along the frame and required additional work to get the screen to fit in flushed.  
Highly recommend and will use again.  Prices are cheaper than doing it yourself, or the carts at port authority.  And they have the proper equipment.

New York Computer Help accepted the machine at their shop without an appointment and diagnosed it within 2 hours, all for free.

It turned out a reboot was enough; no repairs were necessary, and they refused to charge anything for their time, even when asked.

They were a pleasure to deal with compared to other computer repair services I used.  They were courteous and professional, the job was done right the first time.  My only complaint would be that they underestimated the time involved---mostly because they were waiting for a part delivered from Dell.  But this is a very minor quibble.  I would use them again and highly recommend them.

Joel the owner was courteous and accommodating on the phone specifically he moved the repair data up by a day at my request because my wireless was down. He called in the scheduled day of service to give me an updated arrival time. Francisco arrived on time and was knowledgeable and not confused by my complex virtual server domain environment. He gave me helpful, money saving recommendations for future work. I will call New York Computer Help to do this. I have a lot of good and bad experiences with IT maintenance and repair companies. These guys are keepers.

It is rare to still find a service provider in New York City that is professional, courteous, empathetic to a service problem, and able to complete what is needed quickly, completely, and at a reasonable cost.  So why can't everyone follow the example of New York Computer Help?  Here is our story:  One of the key workstation computers in my wife's medical practice office lost power following a power surge.  This had the potential of severely impacting our daily office workflow.  I spent three frustrating hours on the phone with the manufacturer, Dell Computers, and another hour of frustration with The Geek Squad, feeling that no easy, affordable resolution was available.  Everyone wanted to sell me unnecessary parts and schedule costly diagnostic visits.  So I remembered that I should have started with Angie's List and found the listing for New York Computer Help.  Miraculously, they were a few short blocks from our office, had fabulous customer reviews, were available seven days a week, and handled Dell computers.  I called their office and had my call picked up immediately by a real person who gave me great attention, asked relevant questions, and invited me to bring the workstation in that day for a free evaluation.  I brought the computer over and found this service oasis in midtown Manhattan.  They had late hours so I made it there in time.  They spoke with every customer in person or on the phone with courtesy and understanding.  While they realized that I was not "tech savvy", they treated me with respect and explained the possible problems in terms I understood.  They offered to diagnose the problem on the spot at no cost, determined it was one of two possible issues, and then identified the problem (which had a cost-effective solution).  They had the replacement part in stock (an even better power supply than I had on the unit) and installed it in about 30 minutes.  They also gave the computer a complete cleaning and tested it on the spot.  In less than an hour everything was good as new.  I brought the computer back to our office, and everything worked perfectly.  The total cost of the repair was less than half of what Dell quoted just for parts!  My Angie's List discount was applied with no questions asked.  I even enjoyed the chocolate candy they had in the office while waiting for the repair.  Great service and a great customer experience!

The job was done within two hours of bringing it in.  There were no parts needed, just an adjustment to the video array - I thought I was going to need a new screen or at least a video card or ribbon cable.  The service was professional and fast, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

I called New York Computer Help after doing some online research and reading some online review about them.  They are located on the third floor of a very dated office building but don't let that put you off, they are very professionals.  I dropped off my HP laptop for a free diagnostics.  They called within 30 minutes of my dropping off the laptop to give me the diagnostic result and the cost to remove the virus.  By the following day, I got a call from them that the virus was removed and my laptop was ready to be picked up.  I was impressed with their prompt attention to my laptop, the follow-up calls, and how soon I was able to pick up my laptop.  I found New York Computer Help to be friendly when I called and friendly in person.  It was a pleasure dealing with New York Computer Help.

The man examined my wife's laptop and concluded that the motherboard was failing. He proposed removing the hard drive to recover the data (he told me it was OK ) but I told him I would do this, and I have, and took all back. He was very professional and quick. If I have more problems, this is where I will go.

Staff advised me to try a more conservative approach first, which would result in less inconvenience for me if it worked. Unfortunately it didn't and I needed to return the following week with a similar problem. They fixed the computer using a more drastic approach, didn't charge me, and now everything seems fine. It's also worth noting that they took my calls over the week when I had a few questions about setting up some functions that had changed. There were never any further charges. I would definitely recommend them again.
