"In the day and age we live in,itâ s extremely hard to find someone whoâ s actually going to show up for the quote as agreed upon and actually come and do the work. Tyler was great from the first time we spoke. He showed up when he said he would and was always polite, cleaned up his work area every day and I was able to leave for work while he worked on the job in my home. Never had any worries leaving him alone in my home. Tyler made a nightmare of mine into a dream!!!! The plaster repair, new ceiling and paint job blew me away when I came home from work and seen the finished product. People like Tyler are hard to come by and I am extremely picky. I would hire him again and again and again!"

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Plaster provides a durable, soundproof, and moisture-resistant finish compared to drywall.

Wondering who to call for ceiling repair? While you can hire a handyperson to fix minor cracks, you’ll want to hire a drywall professional for larger issues. Depending on the cause of the crack, you may need to hire other contractors, such as a foundation contractor, mold remediation company, roofer, or plumber near you.

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.

Regular inspections and cleaning to prevent moisture or pest issues.

Drying alone can take 1 to 4 hours to dry to the touch per plaster layer, but some types of plaster take several hours longer to dry. However, this doesn’t mean the job is done because plaster doesn’t fully harden until it cures, which can take a few days to a couple of weeks. It may take even longer if you’re building a new, pretty thick plaster wall. Allow the plaster to cure before painting it.
