"Excellent. Floors that have been covered up with carpet for years are beautiful. John made good recommendations and informed us of things we needed to know and do along the way. He called us when there was a glitch in his schedule which was very much appreciated. My husband and I would hire again."

"CJ and his brother we excellent workers. The arrived at the time expected everyday. My kitchen 17x13 is positioned in my house so I have to walk through it to get to anyplace else in my house. They were very respectful of my space and my family. The work took 5 1/2 days. They were meticulous in the work. CJ explained everything he was going to do and was opened to my suggestions. The estimate was by far the lowest I received and even though the job took longer than expected (only 1/2 day), he kept the original estimate. And the best is that the floor looks amazing. I will be calling this company for any future work that I need. Great job!"

"When we called and set up a time for him to come he was prompt and got the job done in an excellent time frame. Very reasonably priced. Completely reliable. And great craftsmanship. Iâ ve seen other projects he has worked in between building a home and remodeling. He pays attention to detail. Definitely will be hiring him again for a tile job."

"John came to my house and quoted me for installation of approximately 250sq feet of LVP flooring in my mudroom. The price was just right and performed the job flawlessly, fast and was extremely clean. He also prepared the floor by leveling some spots that had been uneven, upon his recommendation and explained the entire process throughly. I will undoubtedly be calling him for all my future floor projects with hesitation!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, unfortunately, it is normal for wall and floor tiles to crack, especially when you drop heavy items on tiled floors or place heavy objects on them. Tiles are also more susceptible to cracking when ceramic tiles designed for walls are installed on floors, as these are often not strong enough to handle heavy loads from foot traffic and furniture. Similarly, tiles that are installed incorrectly, lack adequate subflooring, or have other installation problems are prone to cracking. To avoid these problems and the inevitable repair and replacement costs they bring, always hire a professional for tile work and follow best practices for installation.

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.

You cannot tile directly over hot mop waterproofing because tile requires a smooth, solid surface to adhere properly. Additionally, the shower bed pan needs to be raised and sloped toward the drain to prevent water from pooling. However, you can hot mop and apply a sloped mortar bed over the top (to which the tile can then be adhered).

Yes. You can tile over tile if the old tile is in good shape, but this will also create a thicker floor. As a result, you may have to remove and readjust baseboards and other room trimmings and potentially even raise door heights to work with the higher floors. In most projects, it’s best to remove the old tile before installing a new tile floor.

How long painted tiles last ultimately comes down to the quality of the paint job and how much wear and tear the tiles get. It’s possible the paint job will only last about six months if the tiles are in a high-traffic area and they weren’t properly cleaned, sanded, and primed prior to painting and sealing. Well-painted tiles in a low-traffic area should last at least a year.
