"This review is long overdue! If you need a handyman that knows what they are doing, really commits to making sure the project is completed and done well, within your agreed timeframe, and reasonable compared to others- look no further!! As a woman, you always are cautious when hiring a handyman for various reasons however, all those concerns disappear when I hired this wonderful guy! He explained how long it would take, provided a cost which he stuck to, and did everything and then some! From installing 2 chandeliers with dimmers that were both heavy, several curtain rods with metal tie backs, a fire place mantel, putting together a bed and reworking it to accommodate the adjustable bed base, and so many more… I can’t begin to count my blessings that I found such a great person. Almost a year later and all the work he did still brings me so much joy because they were done so meticulously well :)) a true professional!! Look no further and hire this guy :))"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Call 911 immediately. If you have a fire extinguisher or fire blanket near the laundry room, you can attempt to extinguish the fire, but don’t open or touch the dryer. If you can’t put the fire out, evacuate yourself, your family, and your pets from the house, closing the laundry room door behind you. Turn off the electricity to your home via the outside fuse box, then wait for the fire department. After a dryer fire, have your home’s electrical system inspected to make sure there isn’t any damage.

Yes, you should seal and cap an unused chimney to protect it from damage. Sealing the structure helps prevent moisture damage, which can lead to issues like cracks, spalling, efflorescence, and damaged mortar joints. Capping the chimney is also crucial to prevent blockages, damage from invasive critters, and downdrafts, while still allowing for proper air ventilation to manage moisture. For the best results, consult a chimney professional to select the right type of chimney or flue cap for your home. It's also wise to continue with annual chimney inspections to maintain the structure's integrity.

Yes, mineral spirits are flammable and may spontaneously combust at temperatures of 200 degrees F or more. Storing them in well-ventilated spaces and disposing of them the proper way are the best ways to prevent mineral spirits or anything contaminated with them, like towels and rags, from going up in smoke.

Concrete homes have better fire resistance because this material is highly resistant to fire and heat. But any paint, siding, windows, roofing, or other materials on a concrete home may still be flammable. Never try to stay in a building with a large, active fire or a wildfire approaching because this can still be deadly. However, building a fireproof home with concrete can better protect the structure against total destruction.

No. Removing the cause of concern will only lead to deeper concern. You cannot use any fire-powered appliance like a fireplace or furnace without an escape route for the smoke and fumes. If you remove the flue intending to repair or replace it, you should only use the fireplace, wood stove, or furnace once the flue is in working order. If you cannot replace the flue you have removed, call a chimney repair professional immediately.
