Customers say: Quality work

"I recently bought a home and hired Expressive Designs for the landscaping. My new home had extensive landscaping that had been neglected and overgrown; it was basically a mess. Sarah and her crew came in and took care of everything. They removed what didn't fit, rearranged/transplanted what was out of place, and trimmed and cleaned up everything else. They also installed a line of arborvitae trees to created a nice hedgerow privacy/barrier between my neighbors. On top of all of that Sarah was great to work with. I was happy with the results and I'd recommend Expressive Designs to others."

"K&E, now know as Pro Landscaping did an exceptional job with a massive spring clean up job - we had a ton of leaves and branches and they cleared every single island and bed beautifully. It was a huge job and they worked tirelessly and professionally. They are extremely reasonably priced and I will be hiring them again for mulch and trimming. HIGHLY recommend- Kelly T in Clifton Park"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can landscape in the rain, but you should take some precautions to keep yourself and your tools safe. Avoid using electric landscaping tools during rainfall, and don’t mow, thatch, aerate, or rake in the rain, as your tools can more easily tear out roots in the loose soil. Be careful when working on wet grass, and take your time to avoid slipping. Avoid putting in new plants before a particularly bad storm, as heavy rain and strong winds can damage or uproot plants that aren’t yet established.

The primary disadvantages of xeriscaping are the high upfront cost and the significant labor required to establish it. A xeriscaping project can cost between $3,000 and $24,000 on average. Additionally, the resulting landscape will have less of a traditional green appearance, which may not appeal to everyone's personal taste and could potentially narrow your pool of buyers if you decide to sell your home. However, despite these initial drawbacks, the long-term benefits include saving water, time, and money on lawn maintenance.

Surface-level tree roots might only pose a small threat, such as being a tripping hazard or obstacle when you mow your lawn. But if mature tree roots start growing in the direction of your home’s foundation or plumbing system, it could be a real problem. Cutting small tree roots out before they grow too large can keep your home safe without removing the whole tree.

There are some instances when you can use extra drywall in your garden. Ideally, unused scraps of new drywall are best for amending soil without the concern of additional chemicals or mold. However, drywall with paint, mold, or potential asbestos requires specialized disposal by a professional and should be kept out of your garden.

If you use the wrong plants for your gardening zone, you’ll likely get less than desirable yields from them. In some cases, your plants can even die. It’s important to ensure that your plants are able to survive in your hardiness zone before getting them into the ground.
