"Jayme Dennis was a great find. He landscaped my front and backyards all in just a few days. He was very reasonable in his estimate and stuck to the amount he quoted. The results were picture worthy. Any other landscaping projects I will always go to him first for quality, price, and his follow through."

"Over this past fall my husband and I decided to have a paver patio installed in our back yard to be used for family gatherings and cookouts. We were ecstatic with how our patio came out, it was more beautiful than what we had envisioned. Working with Iljazi Masonry, they are extremely professional, personable and easy to communicate with. Kristina would always respond back to an email, text, or phone call in a timely manner (she is quite hilarious as an extra bonus). Starting from the consultation to throughout the build, everything ran consistently and within our estimated timeframe. They take great pride in their work and it shows. The craftsmanship that was put into our patio clearly came from years of experience, knowledge, and working with along side a successful team. I highly recommend Iljazi Masonry to anyone who is looking for high quality work, an artistic vision, and professionalism with customer service."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, as long as the cut is clean and the brick remains structurally sound, you can reuse it. Reusing brick is especially common for landscaping, edging, and small masonry repairs. Just make sure to file down any sharp edges before handling or installing it.

Whether you’re installing brick siding over a traditionally-framed home or you’re using genuine brick construction to build, the biggest downside of a brick house is the higher cost you’ll pay for the materials and labor. Real brick construction also means your home build will take longer, as it’s more time-consuming to construct brick walls than it is to frame out your home.

Yes, you can paint stone on the exterior of a house. It’s important to properly prep the stone by cleaning off dirt and debris. You’ll want to apply at least two coats of paint to get the most even and complete coverage. Any pinholes or missed spots, however small, can allow moisture to get into the masonry and potentially cause the paint to blister and peel from the stone.

Depending on the amount of soot present, you can vacuum some of it using a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Then, remove the leftovers with a mild cleaner, such as dish soap or vinegar mixed with water. Before applying a cleaning solution, saturate the bricks with clean water to prevent the cleaner from penetrating beyond the surface and causing structural damage to the bricks.

Professionally done brick repointing can last 20 to 30 years, sometimes longer. However, the exact lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the mortar, the skill of the mason, and exposure to weather. If you live in an area with harsh weather or frequent freeze-thaw cycles, you may need to repoint more often. Repointing that is done as a DIY project may only last 10 to 15 years. It's time to repoint when you notice signs of mortar failure, such as crumbling or missing mortar, holes, or vines growing between the bricks. Regular inspections can help you catch these issues early.
